Anyone running the actual OEM Ford Beadlock Rings all the time?? What death occurred in the process?

Super dumb question time!!!! 🙋

I've read enough about the death and destruction of running Beadlock Rims with tires mounted to the actual beadlock on the road. The question is.....is anyone actually using the OEM Ford Beadlock on their Sas-B's OEM rims? If so, what are your results (IF death occurred) and how often do/did you check the bolts/re-torque etc? Also, did you have the rims rebalanced once installed?

Thank you......now back to our regular scheduled show, Puppies in Poppy Fields.....and does the poo contribute to more poppies with stinky smells?!

I don't think you'll find many people doing this because it's illegal, and also unsafe as you want the tire to separate from the wheel in certain types of crashes. The rings can also become a cruise missile in a crash.

You probably only want to use the Beadlocks if you are a hardcore rock crawler. And if you are a hard core rock crawler you would probably get an aftermarket bead lock wheel anyway.
These things can take fairly (15-20psi) low pressure without the need for a bead lock.

I think we had them aired down to about 20 psi at the Off-Roadeo, no problems at all, and these are beginners making all kinds of mistakes.

Yep. I've run the stock squatch rims at 10psi at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes and at 15psi at a couple of off-road parks in the area. Your mileage may vary depending on terrain.

I bought the rings off of an F-150 owner—the F-150 Raptor rings are compatible with the Bronco wheels. (As far as I can tell they are the same rings.)

BUT... I goofed. I bought the optional Badlands wheels expecting them to be the same wheel as the Sasquatch wheel (they look the same at first glance), but they're not—they are +55 offset rather than +30 offset and are half an inch narrower. By the time I noticed my order was previewing so I decided not to touch my order.

I did mount one of my wheels with the ring and drove it around a few days. Definitely not enough time to really test them, and I took it off before I did something stupid and got road rash on it. Ideally I'd like to buy Sasquatch wheels from someone and use the rings on those, but thus far I haven't seen anyone selling their Sasquatch wheels in the northeast. So I may just ultimately sell the rings and go a different route—Everglades wheels maybe??—haven't decided yet.

I goofed and ordered the OEM beadlocks rings thinking I'd run them normally without the tire pulled out......not having a clue how the stupid SH**t worked. I like the look but now I'm thinking I'll cause death and destruction if I run them at regular street pressures......and get flipped-off by electric car drivers thinking I have missiles loaded on all 4 wheels. Hmmmmm.......😑

Sorry, I apologize if I misunderstood this - the original post sounded like you were trying to use beadlocks on-road (i.e. on public roads)

Forgive my ignorance here, but I would love some clarification on what exactly we're talking about here. As far as I understood it, the stock squatch setup is a rim that has a beadlock collar that isn't actually locking the tires; they're just kinda there for show?

Is the OP suggesting that people are getting proper beadlock tires and using the stock rim + collar for a legit beadlock setup? Or am I misunderstanding literally everything? :)

Yep. the Ford Performance kit that converts the stock sasquatch rim into a beadlock and replaces the trim rings.

Cool thank you - for my own education; using these rings still won't lock anything unless you get lockable tires, right? I assume they have an outer additional bead or something.

Its a different setup. You have move the tire lip to sandwich between the weel and beadlock ring. I would definitely change out the tires though to something with a tougher sidewall than the OEM Goodyears.

So the factory Sasquatch wheels and the optional Badlands wheels are beadlock compatible—they support both the standard J-type mount, as well as locking rings.

From the factory, they are mounted like any other tire, and in place of a beadlock ring you have a trim ring that's just there for show. However, you can buy actual beadlock rings for the factory wheels from Ford Performance and turn them into a true beadlock wheel/tire setup without having to buy a whole new set of wheels/tires. You just have the buy the rings.

The reason why Ford cannot sell you beadlock rings from the factory is because they are not DOT approved, and do not comply with SAE J2530 safety standards. So the question is... has anyone ignored those safety concerns and used beadlock rings on the road anyway?? And if so, has anyone ran into issues that are concerning??

Are there any reports of the GY's detaching without beadlock? I haven't seen a single one on the forums yet. I'd personally love to know what their limits are.

Here are a couple of great photos that show the difference between our regular Squatch wheels and actual Beadlock rings. I included a picture of my rim without the ring.

oh wow that's hugely helpful thank you! So you just move the bead out to the outer lockable area and use actual bead lock rings. Got it. Thanks again for the explanation and the images are great!

Don't worry, I have no interest in trying this, I am just curious by nature and wanted to know how this stuff worked.
