Called Quinn today to check on my order status after seeing a small YouTube video on an upgrade option he is offering....

He is now offering and upgrade to the portals! a double shear heim joint for the steering tie rod! He will be calling those that have already placed an order for the portals and asking it they would like to upgrade.... It will require an RPG or FunHaver heim joint tie rod upgrade as well. Match this with a 74Weld Steering Rack (which in my opinion should before portals) and I think it will be as close to bullet proof as you can get short of the custom racer stuff.

OH no... I am not a racer.....
I am old and I like to move slow. In the same breath I like to get to where I am going without breaking parts. I also like going places that are off the beaten path.

I am not setting this thing up to go fast in the dessert, or for that matter anywhere. I would buy a Rapter for that.

I totally understand! I'm the same way. It's going to be a great build!

Nope, not at all. She is a hard lady to track down some times. Always shucking and jiving!

You just always worried when one of the Parents pulls the other off to the other room to discuss something.... It was always okay, what did I do now?

In a way, those of us who like to go fast in the sand & mud would benefit from this upgrade also and would be high on my list of things to do if I was going to keep my Bronco.

I will be selling or trading my Sasquatched 2.7L Base once my Ranger Raptor is built and on it's way to the Dealer.

If I was the type to go fast in the dessert, I would go long arm before portals.... Articulation before clearance.... I would also want to keep as low to the ground as possible, low center of gravity. For my type of wheeling it is clearance before articulation. Yes I want as much articulation as possible but clearance (and low gearing) is/are more important.

I am not really a sand or mud guy so you would know better than I would.

I agree about long travel before portals, but I got ahead of myself and didn't mention that I'd go with their steering upgrade stage 2 before long-travel, lift or portals, sorry about that.

I'm a cnc machinist and can admire the work and effort they put into their products.

Absolutely agree going with the steering before any suspension changes (or portals which technically are not suspension).... It is the weak link in the system. I think 74Weld has addressed this better than anyone else. Damn expensive though (even though I think it is a fair price for what you get). There are some others that have addressed the issue and their solutions help and are less expensive.... I just do not think they help to this level.

It appears you agree. I like to hear that admiration for their product from a machinist.
