2023 Wildtrak

Lacking skid plates for transmission, transfer case, fuel tank, rear diff, etc. I don't have the budget for a complete set, any recommendations for which to buy first and where to buy? I've been looking at IAG, but not sure how competitive they are or how their quality compares with other aftermarket manufacturers.

I want to do some rock crawling, nothing too severe, but am worried about damaging components without proper skid plates behind the engine.

One thing I will say about skids is to start putting them on before you head off road. Cross member, rear shock and trailing arm skids first. These are the beat down areas.
If you’re not going rock, crawling specifically, do you think the rear shock trailing arm skids are enough on a wild track 2024? I just wanna haul my little camper way back in the woods and we left alone for a while. In the past,

Just a thought, did you purchase the optional metal skid plate up front or is it the standard plastic one, I can’t remember at one point they put in standard steel skid/ bash plate in 23 or 24 Year Models.

If you like super strong molded aluminum - you might consider the Bronco raptor skid plate and other bronco raptor under plates.

Loved seeing the difference between the front skids.... But please understand... That "intercooler for the turbos" is actually the transmission cooler.... Just an FYI...

I would say this: I wish I would have put skids on right out of the gate. The low hanging fruit can really take their hits quickly. That being said I do go rock crawling/desert running numerous times a year. If you are gonna go over what is in front of you, get them.

So, to close out this drama, I decided to add a Badlands APEX winch (not so easy with a capable bumper and the LUX package cameras and sensors). I used the JCR winch plate with their camera and license plate relo kits. I added the full set of ARB skid plates and a JRC fuel tank skid plus a JRC rear diff skid (their expensive one). A lot of weight, but more so, peace if mind, when I hit the trails in Wyoming and Idaho in a few weeks. Driving from NY, so I will pay the price (literally) for the decreased gas mileage resultant from the added weight. Thanks to everyone for your advice and comments. I decided in the pay-me-now or pay-me-later scenario, that a couple of grand invested now might prevent much higher cost of damages. Thanks!

Idaho? well if you end up in the southern end of the state look up Ford Broncos of Idaho.... Somebody in the group will know about every run in this end of the state... East to West.

My skid plates came in handy off-road and ON the road. My dealer flubbed the installation of my new wheels by failing to torque the lug nuts to their proper specifications, causing one of the wheels to fly off my Bronco on the way home. Were it not for my rear trailing arm and rear shock skid plates, I could have destroyed my Bronco and possibly been injured.

So, if you want to start small, go with the front cross-member skid plates which you can bolt up in 10 minutes. The rear bits were installed by professionals at a 4x4 shop who knew what they were doing, had all the required tools, and most importantly, had a LIFT to make things easier. It's pretty simple: get under your rig and take note of things that look delicate or prone to damage, and scream "PROTECT ME!"

Below are pix of the items that took the abuse of the pavement as my Bronco came to a rest following the departure of my wheel. I'm sure sparks were a-flyin'. 😜 Luckily, my differential skid plate wasn't near the road and thus did not sustain any road rash...

DV8 supplied the crucial components and those puppies saved my hyde. I wrote them to thank them for saving my Bronco from the boneyard and they were kind enough to send me a butt load of DV8 swag. A win-win!

Postscript: my dealer came through for me, replacing the original skid plates, studs, lugs, brake rotor, calipers, pads, dust cover, wheel, and fender flare. My babe is good as new.
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

It’s not having what you want. It’s wanting what you have.
