I have a 2022 Badlands with the capable bumper. I wasn't particular happy with how the HD modular bumper didn't have wiring for fog lights, so I skipped it with the intention of replacing the capable bumper with an aftermarket bumper at some point in the future. Except it's been a year since I got my Bronco, and I haven't really found an aftermarket bumper that I liked. Most were just ugly, and the few that I did like were so prohibitively expensive to ship that I more or less gave up.

So I began searching for a winch mount that would work with the capable bumper. Two options popped up:

@dover157 talked about about the Rough Country mount in this thread here, and it seemed like an okay option. It definitely is the most economical option, but I've had some less-than-stellar experiences with Rough Country gear in the past. Add on this Bronco6G thread here which talked about numerous frame bending issues while using the Rough Country winch mount, and I wasn't completely sold. @TechnicalDisaster did mention that Tricky Dick (the author of that Bronco6G thread) offered some frame supports to fix the issue, but... the fact that Rough Country didn't take this into consideration when developing the kit was enough to spook me.

After comparing the JCR mount kit with the Rough Country kit, it seemed like that kit too would have similar frame bending options. Either way, I wasn't getting warm-and-fuzzies, so I skipped it and went sent back to the drawing board.

Enter the Wildland Firefighting Bronco that Ford developed. That proved to me that the Ford Performance winch could indeed be mounted to the Bronco—probably with some modifications—but it was possible. And unlike the Rough Country and JCR mounts, it added a bunch of extra frame supports to prevent the frame horns from bending. Awesome. So I bought it this past summer, and got it installed over the course of September. The end result... it is indeed possible!

You can get the Ford Performance winch from the Bronco Nation Gear store to get access to that sweet 10% discount… but also check Ford Accessories. This item does ship via freight, an once you account for shipping costs it may ultimately be cheaper to get it from Ford to take advantage of the free shipping to your dealer.

But overall, extremely happy!

Only came down an inch , not bad.
I'm on the fence about a receiver mount so it can be put on either end and not have the weight on the front and also not be in the elements especailly when spooled with kite string, but I like the menacing look of the winch.

Interesting. Obviously never looked at it personally, but from what I read the Broncos with the HD modular bumper didn’t have the factory fog light switch or wiring. Most seemed to have used the Aux switch wiring for fog lights.

You talking the Aux switch wiring or the actual fog light wiring?

I bought the ford headlight switch with integrated front and rear foglight buttons, and activated it using forescan. Then used the factory wiring. There’s a long detailed write up on B6G

Ahhh so you have the High or Lux package. Gotcha.

That wiring harness isn't there unless you buy the High/Lux package. The harness for the fog lights is shared with the harness for the front parking sensors. I have the Mid package, so that harness wouldn't be there unless I ordered the standard plastic bumper or the capable bumper.

But I probably would have gone the same route you did if I ordered the High package... which... part of me still regrets I didn't.

Great Video @RagnarKon, One piece of advice I can give you is to get yourself the winch cover after only 4 months or so that red Warn logo on the front faded to pink. and the red pull strap is pretty tattered, but I kinda like the look. also my Glades came with a sleeve that covers the first 3' or so of the winch line I assume to protect it from the sun. the only bit that is exposed is the loop that attaches to the hook. I am planning on getting this. https://www.factor55.com/p-flatlink-e-expert

There is a guy at my office that has a new 392 Rubicon that has all kinds of off road goodies and not a spec of dust or dirt on it but he has that winch and leaves it hooked to a shackle and you can see the winch line has discolored on the section that is exposed.

Different bumper set up but the Flat link and guard are excellent.
