Installed Rough Country high mount winch plate and 12k winch with 20” light bar this evening. Still need to modify the plastic trim pieces around the recovery hooks but overall I like how it came out. This mount fits perfectly on the “capable” steel bumper. Only issue I came across is I wanted the DRL function of the light tied into the factory DRL’s but so far unable to figure out a way to do that. Temporarily hooked to an aux switch for now until I decide something better. Think I will be ordering a factor 55 ultra hook soon as the RC one just looks cheap and does not really fit on the capable bumper recovery loops.

That looks really good! I wondered how that bumper would handle a winch. Like the light bar. Is it also from Rough Country?

Yep got the whole thing as a package for around $800.

Not bad. I was expecting it to be more expensive

Can you post a picture of the plastic bumper caps after you have trimmed them? I’m still waiting on one more item before I can do this install myself. The instructions for trimming the bracket don’t make total sense to me.

I also went with Factor55 for a winch hook. They make a blue one that matches my Bronco.

Great install!!

The instructions are for the caps on the modular bumper which I believe are different than the ones for the capable. I will definitely add pics of them when I get them modified.

I used the SPV adapter to connect the back lights on some Rigid lights. I think this would work like DRL's for your application. These are plug-and-play--no cutting into existing wiring, easy peasy.

I have their bronco harness, it pulls power from the amber parking or marker lights. Ordered it thinking I could move the tap to the DRL wire but after testing the wire marked DRL on the factory schematic has no power (bronco running in neutral parking brake released and wheels choked) and is not even there on the SPV harness. Tested with the driver side headlight removed and the passenger side was installed and functioning correctly. Was really hoping to have it run only with the factory DRL’s and turn off automatically at night.

How does this winch compare to Warn?

Way cheaper. Lol. Winch itself seems sturdy but only time will tell. Control box and remote are very cheap feeling and almost seems like a toy. Only use so far was dragging my old Chevy truck across the yard to re spool it with tension and it did that just fine.

@TechnicalDisaster
Got the caps trimmed today, not gonna lie it’s ugly lol. Could not find a way to keep anything behind or below the mount. Also went the east route and left the 4 bolts that hold the winch mount on uncovered.

What did you use to make the cuts? Do you think the edges could be smoothed out with a file or fine sanding? It doesn't look bad though. Still going back and forth on replacing the bumper.

I used a cut off wheel on a knock off brand dremmel with a slightly crooked chuck. Could definitely be done cleaner by someone with better skills than I have. Is plastic so sanding should make it cleaner, or using a better tool to cut it. It looks good enough for me but I would never offer to do it for someone else with my skill set lol. Main problem was the cutoff wheel kept melting the plastic. I may still replace the bumper down the road but this mount was way more budget friendly, only cost 1 payment instead of 5 😆

Any word about reinforcing the ends of the frame? I was reading somewhere (I think it was Bronco6G) about the ends of the frame twisting under heavy load. OP, nice set up, looking to do that too.

Tricky Dick sells a frame horn reinforcement kit that I installed on my Bronco. Front end is bullet proof now.

OP, was there any sag in the front end of your rig from this set up? If so, did you measure it?
