Any experience or opinions concerning these winch mount? After reading about the leverage issues with the RC, I started looking at other options. These two mounts seem to pull more in line with the frame, possibility helping a heavy nose up/line level pull. I like the reasonable price too...$299. I would still reinforce the frame horns though.

I see the mount is not flush against the bumper. Is there enough room to keep my factory bull bar?

Who you asking, me or Nminus1? From the pictures and looking t my Turn, I would say the bull bar wrap around mounts would fit the Turn, but not the Broaddict. The Broaddict looks like it covers the area where the mount would go.

Here is the front camera view if anyone is interested. With the control box relocated it doesn't block enough for me to worry about moving the camera.

That's pretty much how the Turn looks also, maybe a hair more road right in front since it sits a little lower.

Have you tried a cover on the winch yet? The one that came with my winch is a bear to get on (really really strong elastic), the recessed bucket winch mount doesn't help either.

I haven't looked into a cover yet. I was thinking about fabbing something up that used the 4 screws that mounted the control box to protect the rope from the UV rays. Maybe curve it down some toward the front to cover as much of the rope as possible. I was thinking about doing something with C.A.D. ( Cardboard Aided Design) then transfering over to a sheet of ABS plastic that I have since I can heat and mold it fairly easily. If I like it and it doesn't present any problems I could then fab it out of sheet metal. It would be flat across the top and curve down under the front crossmember of the spool just a little. Do you think that would present any issues since the rope winds from the bottom ? I never had a cover on any other winch but they were wire cables. Kinda concerned about the syn rope though.

I have thought in the same terms on the "just" cover the rope. I've seen some soft versions. I don't see any issues with what you are doing, even with the sheet metal. After all it's just sitting on top of the rope area. One of the things guys are saying as I researched the cover is that you don't need it at all as concerning UV protection. It's their assertion that the ropes are the same as sail boat rigging ropes and have a built in UV protection. I don't know how true that is, and am still trying to find more info on it.

Question...I see that you have a small box to the left, over the motor. Is that the control box, or just a cover for the cable connections. Did you move the control box somewhere else.

Yes that is just a cover for the wire terminals . I am relocating the controls to above the computer on the right fender. Just waiting on longer cables and this box.

To be safe, you could always ask your wife/girlfriend to squirt some suntan lotion in their hand, and forcefully rub it into the rope, in a rapid back and forth motion, repeating every 6-12 inches until fully completed. 😈

Finally got the extended cables delivered so installed the control box under the hood today. Also made a rope cover to keep the UV and day to day grime off the rope. The cover is an experiment I made from a sheet of 1/8" abs plastic. It could actually go down in front a little further but that's the only piece of abs I had laying around. It would look nicer if made from a laser cut metal plate. Harbor Freight should sell something like that as an accessory to protect the rope.

I used this box from Amazon to place the controls in . It has a few threaded nuts made into the bottom and two of them matched up perfectly to mount the Contact relay. I drilled a couple extra holes so all the wires would exit the front and used a round switch for the wireless on/off as it's easier to cut into the box than the rectangular switch . This fits perfectly under the factory computer module without moving around.

Extended cables with pre-installed crimped terminals were sourced from this Amazon store. I used 5' with 3/8 holes.

The plastic abs sheets are the same as these.
