4095FFB8-3FEC-4EA3-890B-280A672778B8.jpegHow I store the soft top for winter. Rods still attached and windows/hardware in original box.

Here are my thoughts.

1. Its a great product. If you have a 2 door , the swept back look makes the truck look very slick and you stand out from other broncos and even jeeps big time. Everything made of fabric and steel is high quality. However the bolts that ship with it are extremely shitty and you should replace them with better ones that wont have the heads strip. I ignored this advice posted by other people on the internet. Do not ignore this warning. replace the bolts ESPECIALLY if you plan on removing the top and going back to the hard top seasonally.

2. The "Slide out" windows add alot of choice for how open air you want the truck. Sometimes you want the air and not the sun! Folding back the top CAN be done with one person but folding it back needs to be done with 2 people UNLESS you want climb over your drivers seat and grab the top in the back. (I also thought about attaching a pull rope which would also make it possible). In my opinion the "flip top" design is better than the "accordion" design that ford ships because you get much greater 360 visiblity with the top flipped up. The only downside is that it does not look AS GOOD as the other soft top when its opened all the way. Another upside of the "slide out" design is that if you have kids there is no danger of them getting their fingers stuck in the folding hardware because there is none. its far more "open air".

3. Noise is what you would expect. You can hear everything outside of the car. However wind noise for me was BETTER than it is on the hardtop. The hard top cuts out all the noise from the outside and its very insulated so you cant hear other cars and leaves and stuff. But its nowhere near as aerodynamic. Either way its a soft top so noise is to be expected. But highway performance is great its nowhere approaching annoying sound levels.

4. If you are installing this on your car only one time and dont plan to swap it out. Pay for the installation. It took me all day 5-8 hours to figure it out. It was not fun in the heat. However , removing the top is super easy as you can keep the entire folding roof and rods all as one piece. It wont fit in the box but in just an hour i was able to remove the top and associated hardware easy peasy (however i did use a powertool unlike installation which was by hand) However initial installation may be very frustrating because of how TIGHT The windows are. They are so tight they look like glass when installed. You realllllly have to stretch them on that first time and it feels like you might break something. some people say leave them in the sun for a day. Another tip is you can leave the foam on all the parts to re-use when you reinstall them in the spring/summer. The rubber gasket on the rear should also be left in place and does not interfere with the re-installation of the hard top.

Despite issues with bestop not sending me all the parts and multiple phone call fights and shipping debates. Everything that comes in the box is a very very good product. And if you are a fan of soft tops , in my opinion its a more versatile soft top then the other design that accordions back and blocks your view.

9/10 if you are into soft tops. Point deducted because the bolts they include are utter dogshit.

Nicely written review. Thank you.
Any chance for more photos showing top up with windows in and out?

I appreciate your candid remarks about this top. I'm thinking about getting this down the road (forgive the pun). I like the idea of letting a professional handle the installation. Although I enjoy turning my own wrenches, I would rather have an experienced installer perform this type of modification. Especially if you can get a warranty!

unfortunately its packed up for the winter and i didnt actually (suprisingly) get many photos of it with the top on lol

There are other photos out there. The slant back really makes it look like a different vehicle on the 2door. Its nothing special though on the 4 door

Like i said. If you like putting stuff together its fine. But it took me a long time and im usually good with stuff like this. However I did install it with hand tools instead of power tools. I think with power tools it would go faster. But its still at least a 4+ hour job. All day for most people.

If you are installing it for good and never planning on switching to another top. The installation service is very worth it in my opinion.

Love my bestop, keeping it on until it falls apart at the seams.

Still, I need to get my old hard top, make sure it's all set and take it to a shop to get painted and tinted just in case

Does Kentucky have occasional 60+ degree days like Jersey in January? If so, keep the soft top on

We sure do, more than a few. After watching the Bestop installation vid, I'm not too inclined to remove all that hardware once it's put on.

its not so bad. The big downside is the soft top doesnt work with roof racks. The gobi racks can even work with hard top removal. Cant do it with soft top

I've hit 100+ in Mexico without issue with the top on, and drove 90+ down there with no windows or doors, no reason to get swap unless someone slashes or gashes your windows and you need to get covered asap.

And that's the thing, if I wanna roof racks, I'd get a 'Yoda 4chan, Taco or some offroader Truck that isn't a convertible

I'm a big fan of the taut windows on the Bestop unit. That, and the raked back window. That alone makes me want one. Weird thing is, I like the square hard top for completely different reasons, but still, there's something kinda, well, "sexy" about the Bestop top. It's like a casual Friday, every day. LOL

I did install this top in a day with help from my better half. It was a recommendation from a Jeep aficionado. The slope of the back is appealing to me instead of the squared hardtop. I have had ragtops before so the noise is not an issue. The hardtop whistle is much worse in my opinion. Opening is easy since I put nerf style running boards on. Originally I did not have boards on it when I bought the top.

I also installed my self and stripped two bolts. I bought replacements Torx bolts at Bolt Depot .My question is do you have a list of what can stay in place when reinstalling the hardtop for winter?

I do not have a list. However some of the bolts you do re-use. I think the rear cap bolts you reuse if you didnt replace them with quick detatch ones yet.
