Can you tell me why you like this one over the JCROFFROAD table? I'm looking for a table. They all seem to be very expensive, that's why I haven't bought one yet.
Admittedly I put more hours into researching tailgate tables than I'd like to admit. Part of the reason why is because I
felt like I should be able to find a really awesome table for $200. I mean, it’s just a table right? How expensive can a table be?? Turns out pretty expensive, but I'll explain my thought process:
The cheaper tables in the $80 - $200 range had very mixed reviews. Some were good... until they got off-road and it started rattling all over the place. Some required drilling, which was a no-go for me. Some seemed okay but were sold by a no-name Amazon-only company that I didn't want to do with. Others were just really bad or blatant copies of other tables (like the official Ford table). It was just all over the place.
Then there were a handful of options around the $280 - $350 range. I wasn't particularly happy with any of them. Bronco Nation, for example, has the
Rock Slide Engineering table available on the gear store with a discount. But to be brutally honest—the weird star design on the side of the table is just straight up stupid looking, and the table requires drilling for installation. Meanwhile the IAG table looked like rebranded versions of the tables off of Amazon, but with an extra $100 tacked on to the price 👎 .
The JCR one was
really close, but wasn't quite there. I read several reviews on Bronco6G where the table developed a rattle over time. Some said they just had to go back tighten everything and it went away, others said they couldn't solve the issue without buying rubber feet from IKEA and other places online. And yet some were really happy with the table and had no issues. For me... the JCR table has a smaller working surface overall, and didn't have the slide-out cutting board. Installation is also a
LOT more complicated as you have to remove the spare tire, spare tire bracket, and all of the trim pieces. The MOLLE grid is cool, but I couldn't think of what I would ever use it for. So I just wasn't getting warm fuzzy feelings about it, and when you're spending that kind of money on a table, kinda need those warm fuzzy feelings.
So then it went into the expensive tables—$400+. Two tables I could find all the way up here... one is the
Goose Gear table, and the other was the Trailgater. The Goose Gear table required drilling and was also the most expensive option... so disqualified. Meanwhile the Trailgater got glowing reviews from both the Jeep community and Bronco community online. The only downside I heard from anyone who bought it is
"yeah... it's expensive, but still awesome". So the Trailgater won.
I'm extremely happy with it. Am I proud that I managed to spend nearly $500 on a simple tailgate table?? No, definitely not. But I am extremely happy with it.
