That is a good video. I might have changed my rope purchase had I seen it.
I went with 3 Rhino products. A, folding shovel, 7/8 kinetic rope and 4 soft shackles. My tree strap is from Warn. My tow strap is a Keeper Strap. I also carry some metal D rings. I chose the number of shackles so I would have flexibility to make a bridle or attach two straps.
This is my first time with a kinetic rope and soft shackles. I have used snatch straps in the past and they work super easy.
Because my new bronco has the lux package a winch is not likely (I would have liked one). However, my 93 bronco, my 1947 jeep and my Super Duty all have warn winches. I have used them for chores and rescuing others. I have never used my winch to extract myself. I generally do not put my vehicles in a position where the only way over an obstacle is with a winch. When I lose forward momentum, I stop, asses and 99% of the time back up. Sometimes its a couple shovel scoops or a quick tug. The main thing is, STOP! I have been 4 wheeling almost 40 years, and I am confident to say, I have some experience.
Also, master tire pressure I cant tell you how many times we have unstuck a vehicle, just by dropping tire pressure and just drive it out. Do not be afraid to air down. Invest in a good pump.
I wanted for my recovery gear bag to be universal and could be used with my jeep, side-x-side, and both Broncos. My super duty is a dually and needs its own because of its GVW. Heck, it's recovery gear would max out the side-x-side payload.... lol
Think about weight loads and remember that just like towing, the lowest weight rating in your combination, is your weight rating. Meaning if you have a 40,000 pound strap and a 6,000 pound shackle, your max load is 6,000.
If you have a winch, make sure you have a pulley so you can A, run out more line for max pull, and B double your winch capacity.
