Gotta just go for it

Jun 29, 2022

Now that I finally got my build week I am getting more excited to start looking for mods and accessories. What did you guys find to be the more important first mods? My build is the OBX, leather, high, SAS. I'm thinking I really want/need the mud flaps so I don't destroy the paint so early.

+1 on mudflaps. After that it depends how you are going to use it. My first weekend list is Radio-Antenna, followed by side steps (probably the z-roads ones) so the kiddos can get in the truck without me having to pick them up.

I'm looking at Rokblokz mudflaps. At about $350 for four, kind of pricey. You think they're worth that $$$? Also, just which sidestep/rock rail are you considering?
You mention radio antenna. More than a few of us have noted that Sirius skips in and out, especially in rural areas. Do you know of an antenna or some kind of enhancement that fixes that?

I dont like the design of the Rokblokz mudflaps, but they seem to be doing the job. I may end up DIYing something, at least in the front.
For the Side Steps I like the Zroads https://zroadz.com/i-23915785-2021-2022-ford-bronco-4-door-rock-slider-side-step-part-z745401.html
and the RTR ones best. https://www.rtrvehicles.com/collections/bronco-rtr-parts/products/bronco-rtr-rock-sliders
Both of these are tucked in at the front, but flair out at the back which will best help the Munchkins climb aboard. Im not too worried about full on Rock sliders (like full on frame mounted rock sliders) because I will do more desert running/ trail riding than rock crawling, so I don't really need them. The RTR ones though are way more than I want to pay for side steps. I owned a YJ back in the day that I paid less for than these guys are asking.

I probably should have clarified about the Radio stuff. I'm talking about a GMRS set up for trail communication. As one of the "licensed radio dorks" (IYKYK) around here, I will be plumbing in a mobile radio and antenna setup. Right now I'm running this antenna https://www.buytwowayradios.com/nagoya-nl-770g-nmo.html?___SID=U
On the back of my sedan with a Midland MXT275 radio https://midlandusa.com/collections/micromobile/products/mxt275-micromobile-two-way-radio
At least the Antenna will transition over (I may do something different on the radio- Its a great unit, meets my needs, and works well, but I may go to a visible display) and I got to figure out how I'm going to mount it. It will probably be in the rear somewhere, but I haven't seen a solution I really liked yet.

How do you like the rear floor vault? I have the tailgate Molle bag/straps too, were you able to put the tailgate table on at the same time?
The rear floor vault is great not big but secure. I have the Bronco rear carpet mat over it (the cargo area enclosure, carpeted mat and vault all play nice togeter) so I atleast have an added sense of security that most would be thieves would be clueless and then if they do look they have to dig and then contend with the vault. The keys are a bit bulky in a pocket combined with the fob. My table hasn't actually arrived. I really liked the look of the Ford one with the "Bronco" on it but heard from the Ford techs that they are quite noisy when driving. The Ford table is designed for the molle bags and straps however it appears the design does not account for the molle bag holder but rather for the bags to attach on the table slots. I ultimately went with Rough Country Folding Tailgate Table (21-22 Bronco) Item #: FB7799 since it allows for the molle pieces in the same way and also has cup holders. I was trying to find a table that did not require drilling but the only option I found in that regard did not allow for the molle usage. If not for the drilling I would have ordered the table day zero but day one presented supply issues and it's expected to ship tomorrow. Additionally the Rough country is only $80 which is significantly cheaper then all the others. Ultimately the bags will work better on the underside of the table anyway as the molle bag holder's plastic clips that hook into the tailgate are not exactly built Ford Tough. If you are at Overland Expo PNW I will hopefully have my table installed and then you could see for yourself.

My first mod was tinting the front windows on my 2dr. I get migraine headaches and the tint helps. I also got heated seats installed by Ford. Getting the manual I didn't have the option with my Black Diamond for the package from the factory. I really want some mudflaps before we get snow again but still haven't found ones I like. Hood struts are a must and they are easy to install. I also got the steps from IAG that bolt to the factory rockrails.
I don't have heated seats either (Base), what does the process look like to get those installed? And if you don't mind me asking, how much was it? Thank you!

Here's a video which review--at lightning speed--most of the available sliders, steps, or combo products available for the Bronco. You'll probably want to hit the pause section a lot and write down the makers and models of slider/steps that appeal to you. He also criticizes makes he doesn't think measure up.

You're on the right track with the mud flaps. They'll certainly spare you some grief from day one. I've heard those SAS tires kick up a lot of pebbles. You may want to look into getting your truck's finish ceramic coated, and a paint protection film and windshield lamination may be a logical consideration as well. The windshields are prone to rock damage. Plus, if you're in Texas, you would benefit from installing window tinting to help keep the cabin cooler for those days you want to keep it sealed up.
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

The windshield is a good one, I have heard they are easier to crack since they are more vertical. And I definitely want the ceramic coating. Luckily I was surprised with an unexpected bonus so I’m going to gladly use that to start getting some things.

I think they were about 625.00 from Ford. I had them install the switch on the center console. No the switch wasn't installed wrong. It's that way so the driver can see it 20220302_222252.jpg

The Orange grill letter overlays are cool but I'm still on the fence since the white looked good and popped well. Also hoping to have the MOC top painted white.

Hi Guys!! Don't forget one of the first and best mods you should buy for your bronco is a Sprint Booster throttle controller.

Sprint booster eliminates delay in your gas pedal, reduces turbo lag, better and cheaper than the competition, has valet mode built in, secures against auto theft with its built in digital pedal lock security system that's great for long hikes or parking downtown, easy DIY install, zero maintenance, works with or without controller, ships super fast and free, you can turn it OFF even after it has been installed, it does NOT add any extra peak horsepower, can be removed without any trace and most importantly based on the latter three reasons sprint booster won't void your factory warranty.

All of our customers love how it transforms their broncos throttle response from dull and delayed to crisp and responsive!!

See videos and other bronco owner reviews in our Bronco Nation link below where you can learn more about this top shelf mod.

We also added our purchase link below if you want to buy one from NT Auto for your bronco for less than anywhere else. If you can find it for less we will beat the price! :)

Ps-one pic below is from one of our old B6G customers provided after he installed his controller using some creative design. Sadly we aren't on B6G anymore but we sure miss the entire B6G community

I'm intrigued. Always been more of a supercharged fan due to turbo lag. Since these are turbo'd it is what it is. I need this and hopefully there will be bigger turbos soon.

Awesome. If we can help just let us know. Our 4th of July sale ends on Tuesday. Any orders placed during the long holiday weekend will ship middle next week.

Ps-forgive the late night holiday ramble below lol

Whether turbo, twin turbo, supercharged, N/A, 4/6/8/10/12Cyl you name it we enjoy it, because we love to drive!! This is the main reason why we became a sprint booster dealer years ago. *It makes driving safer and much more enjoyable on a daily basis.

Sprint booster is always one of the first mods installed on any of our new cars built after 2005 when drive-by-wire took over and ruined the thrill of instant throttle response.

Our first drive-by-wire experience was on a 2007 audi RS4 (in 2006). 4.2 N/A V8 MT AWD. Redline around 8K. Amazing engine. Floored it out the dealership. Even though it was naturally aspirated it was a total let down because of drive by wire. Once it got going, it was rad. But off the line no guts. Sad.

The audi was no comparison to the first drive out the dealership just a few years prior back in '99 in our '00 WS6 Trans Am (MT but not a Hurst). NO DRIVE BY WIRE!! What a beast!! Added 3:73 gear and borla. Insane fun fast car. Miss the WS6 a lot. The WS6 is also one of Jay Leno's favorite cars in his collection.

Anyway, wish we had sprint booster back in 2006 bc we probably would've kept the RS4. Im sure many bronco owners wouldn't have sold theirs either, had they tried sprint booster.

Happy 4th!!

Interesting. I have a 2007 Shelby GT/SC. Zero lag at all and goes like a rocket, do you have a setup that she would benefit from?

Yes. Sprint booster is part specific. Both part numbers you need are currently available for 2021-2022 Bronco AND 2007 Shelby mustang. SBV3 will convert your shelby rocket to super sonic without needing a tune or voiding any warranty (if a warranty still existed on the '07 lol).

If you wanted to buy two that's no prob. Just add 2 in your cart, note both car data on our order form under vehicle make/model, and we'll take cate of it.

Just to be clear SBV3 also does NOT add any extra peak horsepower.

Depends what you want to do first. I'm upgrading each section of my wanted upgrades one piece at a time.
In this order
My first was 4wp slider/steps. They stick out far enough where it protects the paint
I got the jbl sound bar and upgraded stock speakers
the oem roof rack
Fog lights
Seat covers
Custom skid plates
Stage 4 icon kit
Next it'll be a bumper light bar and then I'll get to the engine.

Those slider steps are nice. I can’t find the ones I was looking at available, hope they come back in stock soon. Fingers crossed I’ll have mine by September. I forget about the sound system, it’s gotta be bad when a lot of people mention it. Does the JBL bar take up a lot of the rear view?
