Has anyone swapped out the stock "tall" antenna for a "shorty"? If so, which one, brand? TY

New head units buffer Sirius so it doesn't cut on when shadowed unless you stay there a long time.

The FM antenna and Sirius antenna are two completely different parts that operate independently so there's nothing to "test".
Kind of my point. I removed the antenna and Sirius wasn't effected.

I first swapped my antenna for a tiny one--about 2.5" tall. I loved the almost non-existent look of it, but I noticed the weakest stations were even weaker. So then I tried this 7" version:

but I haven't noticed any real difference. So, once I can find where I put the short one in the garage πŸ™‚ , I will put it back. If the FM stations you usually listen to have a good signal, you should be fine with a shorty. If any are borderline, they may get worse than you'd like. The good news is it's only a $6-7 experiment.

I use mine as a parking lot height indicator 😁
But that only gives you a split second before disaster strikes!

That's why I drive super slow when in parking lots.

Not a shorty but changed to stock F150 antenna because Bronco OEM was up against Baja Designs A pillar light. Too big around at bottom. The light is as far out as it will turn on mount. The light mount is Baja Designs also. The slim F150 antenna works great and also is same length as Bronco stock. It is close but does not touch. See pics.

Suggestion: wrap a little tape around the antenna, make sure the light's housing is protected. Maybe they don't touch when you're parked, but at 60 mph?

Great point. I have actually cut a small strip of black felt tape and put on side of light. The light has shown no sign of rubbing/contact, but better to be safe.

D59244D9-C2A5-4E8A-91E5-38B6607597A1.jpegI replaced my antenna with a short one from Amazon. I’m not a big radio guy or Sirius for that matter. Given the remoteness of the places that I go not everything works, so I don’t limit any of the tools available to me. So I put the short antenna on to have radio just in case. I’ve ripped off enough long antennas other vehicles to just stick with the short ones. Plus I think they look better.

I just replaced mine with the Limited Edition Nerf Dart Stubby Antenna from Built Right Industries. I do not listen to FM and did not like the long antenna but when I saw this from BuiltRight I bought it.

XM’s antenna is on the roll cage on the back crossbar. Never could find it till I took the roof off.

Has anybody found an extension cable for the xm antenna? I'm looking to relocate it outside the cab since I will never take the hard top off.

First, generally there is no connector at the XM antenna. You would have to remove all the wiring back to the dash to relocate it.

Second, why? It works through a plastic top just fine.

Since installing my roof rack it is intermittent at best. The puck can be disconnected at the roll bar so thought someone might have an extension cable available.

You'll need to post the cable connector and "puck" connector that needs extending. Generally, there is no connector at the XM antenna.
