Skid plate for this crossmember?

Well, I’ve banged this enough to chew it up and let it rust. Don’t worry, just ordered some rust-oleum. Anyone have a good solution for a skid plate to protect this piece? D

This is what I have ordered. Mine are pretty mangled too. Unfortunately, its too dang cold around here to prep the area before installing. As you mentioned, I'd like to put a good coat of paint before I put the skids on.

Thanks. I wish I would have done this much much earlier. Why Ford designed these crossmembers like they did, I have no idea.
