I'm having so much trouble with this thing. It's a 96 Bronco with the 5.8. OK, here we go. Back in May the lower hose blew right at the hose-clamp, and I didn't realize it. It overheated, bad, killing the engine. Broke #1 piston even. When we were bringing it home, I got it started one last time and noticed water running out of the exhaust manifold. Figured it was just the motor being toast.
Recently I put another 5.8 in it. Got it running and am putting it back together. This motor was intact on the bottom end with exhaust manifolds on it. I put my timing cover on with a new water pump, and the rest of the whirly parts from my motor. It had the intake manifold and fuel rails on it, so I used my Plenum and throttle body. Seems to run good.
Today I decided it was time for a test drive. It ran fine for about five miles, and then it started missing a little. I got it home to discover water running out of the exhaust manifold in the same way the old motor was. It literally runs out the pipe at the flange and pours out of the tail pipe. No steam or white smoke, but water! Actual water. I disconnected the little water line that runs through the throttle body, and it didn't change anything. I figured that was a good place to start. Any ideas?
I find it odd that two engines would do the exact same thing (except this one didn't overheat) and leak water the same way. I'm stumped!
