Firstly, check your fuses, but it sounds to me like you need a new key switch. In the tailgate, when you turn the key it activates a switch assembly and yours is probably dead. There's a few videos on youtube on how to replace it. If replacing the switch doesn't work then you probably have a wiring problem somewhere.

I think i do need a new key switch i'm told it's part # E8TZ-14529-A doe's anybody know where i could find this part Thanks (ford says no way)

eBay may do the trick. I'm amazed by how many NOS parts you can unearth online! Somewhat unrelated, but have you gained access to the motor in the gate? Any wires frayed or chewed by mice? Odd as it sounds, those little varmints can wreak havoc with wiring!
