Hey y’all. Been watching the forum for awhile but decided to post. Gen 2 section is kinda dead so let’s get to know each other
I got my first bronco when I was 14. A 1971me and my dad restored and made into a beauty. When I was about to turn 16 I decided to get something with power steering, power brakes and a top so I sold it and got a 94 Lightning. I owned a 1996 bronco for awhile and then sold it to my dad (my nephews now) and he bought a 76 we built up over the past 10 years.
Two years ago I got my hands on my dream bronco. A 1979.Had all kinds of paperwork from the original owner who had custom ordered it. (I’ll try and find it all, but was spec’d out with dang near everything from the freewheeling package except the stripes)
We started with just getting it running (and stopping) good and restored the entire interior. Factory seats got reupholstered, Dakota digital gauges, carpet, and since the rear side panels were shot we fabricated some out of polyethylene sheeting. We’re able to use the factory rear armrest and then we mounted some speakers into them.
I put a 4 Barrel intake on the 400 and cleaned up the engine bay ALOT!
Suspension I went with a 4” Rough county, with 2” body lift. Rolling on 20x12 Ballistic wheels wrapped with 37” Ironman tires. I went through the undercarriage and POR15’d it all! Then lastly I threw on a softopper top. (Gotta keep the sun off my 6 year old heart transplant boy that developed a slight sun allergy from the meds)
We are planning on being at the Super celebration in Townsend, TN in October!
so there is the run down on Project Black Horse. Now for the pics!
