Got a chance to buy a Black SAS. Never had a black paint job before, because I feel it always looks dirty. Any tips out there for taking care of a black bronco?

I too avoid black vehicles for the same reason... they always look dirty. BUT I ended up with a Ford Escape in shadow black. Got it shortly after the vehicle shortage started a in spring 2021, and I got for well under MSRP... so I definitely wasn't going to pass it up despite the color.

Don't wash it outside the sun. That's my biggest piece of advice. This is good advice for any vehicle, but on a black vehicle... washing it in the sun is just a bad idea. The paint gets VERY warm, and it the summer it dries and gets water spots almost instantly if you wash it in the sun.

I would never own a black vehicle again. They take so much work to look good and only stays that way for a very short time. With that being said if I was in a position where black was my only option I would suck it up and spend the money on full PPF. The only way to really keep black looking good for more than an hour.

Ceramic coat, protects the paint, makes washing easier.

Goes without saying, but touchless car washes only. Any of the “mechanical” washes leave scratches behind, more visible on black.

Good Cleaning & Good Wax
Just like any other color of paint.
The Heat absorption during the summer is the greatest downfall with Black.

Okay I am getting a Black Raptor already having to pay $12k over. PFF is $5000 and Ceramic is $1750. I typically only have my cars 3-4 years. What should I do? Can I get away with ceramic? I typically won’t be off roading

I too have sworn off owning another black vehicle because of the additional amount of upkeep to ensure the exterior looks great. Paint swirls & water spots are the worst!

Ceramic coating will help and I always use filtered water during my vehicle washes to preclude against water spots. Check this out - it’s a game changer for all colors and simply connects in-line with your hose:

If it were mine and only keep vehicles 4 years, I would only do the ceramic coat. If you would off road more, then I would consider the PPF.
