Soft Top on 2-Door - Does it go all the way down?

Hi All,

New member here!

I am a current Wrangler owner, but am in love with the Bronco, and have placed an order with the Dealer for a 2-Door WildTrak!

I have ordered the soft top, in addition to the MIC.

However, one question I have while I wait for the car to be built, is: Does the soft top, on a 2-door, actually go ALL the way back and down, like it does on a Wrangler Soft Top? The dealer doesn't seem to know.

I know that on the 4-door Bronco, the soft top DOES in fact, go ALL the way back, and DOWN, into what Ford calls "Position Two"; I have seen YouTube videos of this.

But I have not yet seen that the soft top will go to Position 2, on the 2-door.

Does anyone have any confirmation that it will do this?

There are videos on YouTube. TFL car got a 4 -door with the optional soft top (not the standard) and it goes all the way, I don’t see why it would be different on the 2 door.

Hi Jstump,

Thank you for your feedback on this.

That is what I thought as well, but I was not seeing any thing online whatsoever about it, so I kept digging, and found this video this morning:

Right around the 8:30 mark, they start discussing how the 2-door soft-top does NOT go all the way to the tail gate, like it does with the 4-door Broncos (as well as the soft-top Wranglers).

I may change my order, based on this, and just get the Bimini top option.

I was hoping that it would work like a Wrangler, but apparently that is not the case.

I still love the Bronco though, and am excited for it to arrive, even if it is many months from now!

I'm hoping someone will fix this in the aftermarket world.

I assume you’re talking about the aftermarket soft top available from Bestop. Ford doesn’t offer a soft top for the two door.

Im not sure if it is a Bestop or not....but there is a soft-top available from Ford, for the 2-door, at the time of ordering....it is an option in the configuration tool on the website and when I placed the order with Ford, I asked for it and they added it to the order....it comes as an additional component to the MIC and is shipped separately from the car itself.

When I ask my sales person about it, he seems to think that it does go "back and down" on a 2-door but I have not seen any videos on it, and the YouTube video above seems to clearly state that the top doesn't go all the way down....Im hoping to get clarification so that I can change my order; would prefer to have the Bimini top instead.

What you see in the video is not for sale through the factory. It may be available as an accessory that the dealer will purchase and install for you.

It is shipped and installed separate from the Bronco itself, but it does show up on the Ford build site and the dealer adds it to the order.

If you go to www.ford.com, go to Bronco, choose 2-door and click on Build, you can add it to the car and it gets added to the purchase price. When I did this with the dealer, it is part of the purchase price and part of the sales order. Bestop may be manufacturing it, but it absolutely is available as part of the purchase package.

You're both right. They don't market it as a Ford product, is what I'm saying. So technically, we're all right. (Well, I've never been "alright" but you get the idea.) :P

That said, you STILL have to purchase the Bronco with a MIC top to begin with. It won't roll off the factory floor with a soft top installed. Why they just don't buy Bestop outright is the question!

Agreed! We are all correct on this.

So now that I know that the soft top does NOT go all the way "down" on a 2-door, I will go to the dealership and try to change the order...wont need the soft top, but will instead go with the Bimini top. The dealer said I should still be able to make changes to my order at this point.

Sounds like a plan. A little while back, everyone was saying how you could expedite your order if you switched to a soft top. What they forgot to mention was they were talking about four door models only!
