Rip off on previously owned Broncos

I am not new to Broncos. My first was a 1969 and the 2 I have now make 6 and 7. I purchased my Bronco Sport in June 2021 and am very happy with it. I purchased a previously owned Bronco, Badlands Sasquatch with about 1500 miles and feel I was RIPPED OFF as many people are being. I purchased the vehicle because I did not want to wait a year, I may not live that long. The dealer charged me $22, 400.00 over sticker invoice MSRP and then the salesman told me several none truths. This seems to be what this dealer is doing when people sell their Bronco back to make money. People need to know this and have patience. I didn't know and wanted a Bronco even though I already had a Bronco Sport. Big difference!! Broncos are selling for about $53,000 or so and the dealer is selling after someone sells it back to the dealer for over $70,000 and nearly $80,000. Even after the ripoff in price, we purchasers are not entitled to the Ford perks like FORD PASS, T RIAL ON NAVIGATION, BRONCO OFFROADEO and many other perks I don't know about.

I am not sure what we can do, I just want anyone interested to know what is and has happened.

That's why I've been waiting 377 days. Paying MSRP on a vehicle is hard enough to swallow, let alone paying $10K+ in ADMs. It's shady, but there is nothing illegal about it. Short of leaving that particular dealership a negative review, I don't think there is much you can do. The sticker undoubtedly showed both MSRP and then the ADM/"market adjustment" price. So even leaving a negative review would be kind of questionable. I think this falls firmly under caveat emptor.....buyer beware.

Sorry that happened. But honestly you're a grown man/woman and know what you were doing when you bought it regardless of how good the salesman was...the bronco is what sold you...not the salesman. Now the honeymoon phase is decending which makes swallowing a big ADM even tougher. As long as you can keep up with the payments...negative ADM feelings do begin to subside over time IF you enjoy the vehicle.

Moving on. Short of a down payment (and even with one) we're mainly surprised lenders are going that high on loan to value. They usually peak at 120% L2V. So if a loaded bronco is 60K MSRP out the door after tax etc. The lender could go up to 72-75K. Maybe 80K if the dealer has a good relationship with the lender. Beyond this its all about the customer forking over a bunch of cash via deposit to close the deal, which we assume you did, did you?

Most dealers charge a mark up on most of THEIR cars now. Its the norm. At least for now. Not much we can do apart from keeping old car or only buying a vehicle without a mark-up or waiting PATIENTLY for a custom order to arrive.

If a rare model, maybe dealers mark it up but at a cap of 5-10K MAX. That's fair I suppose and its how it use to be for decades. If paying more than 10K mark-up for new or used...walk away from the deal. Period. If paying up to a 10K mark-up for new or used...try to finance it into the loan.

*Hold onto your cash but good for you for saying F it and enjoying life before its over some day. You can't take any of it with you so enjoy it now...if you can afford it lol

Hope this helps

Obviously you went in with eyes open regarding price so I think (assume?) Your issue is with the perks that you're not getting. A couple things. The Off-Rodeo (from what I understand) may be available for free if the original owner did not use it. You can contact Off-Rodeo with your VIN and details @Laura steered another member in the right direction. If it has been used there is still an option to buy your way in at the Texas location. From my understanding the Trail navigation is a service that comes free for the first 3 months from original (new) purchase ( 3 years if LUX) and the service can be purchased after but I have not personally researched. I Don't use Ford Pass but my wife does and I believe you can use it (i.e. to lock your vehicle from a far distance, track its location ect and get points) I (uneducatedly) believe you just don't get the new purchase points added to it. Funny note autocorrect tried to change lock to kick. I don't know how kicking your vehicle from a far distance would be helpful. Damn robots.

Have not used my rodeo allotment, willing to give that up considering the cost to get there and stay is same as an all- inclusive Caribbean vaca.

I suppose instant gratification always has a price. I was in as good a place as I could hope for when Ford began taking reservations in July of 2020. I made my reservation in July of 2020. I completed my order in Feb of 2021. I took delivery in July of 2022. Everyone's circumstances are different. Some simply can't wait. Others simply won't wait. FWIW, I'm late 50's and a cancer 2 timer. My clock is ticking (just like everyone else), but I had the patience to wait. I paid MSRP.

Don’t worry most people STOP and think BEFORE they let go of there money. All of these adm‘s would stop if people just stop being st***d . Hope at least you enjoy it.

I think you are right. Same dealer, same salesman, I have learned a lesson and want everyone to know BE CAREFUL AND DON'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU HEAR OR SEE. MSRP WAS $53,500 as I have a copy of the window sticker if I can believe the salesman, which is now in doubt.

How were you ripped off? You can use Ford Pass still. If the Navigation free trial is over from the previous owner you have to pay to continue to get it if possible. Off-Roadeo is attached to the Bronco but if the previous owner used it then you have to pay to go. That's like saying if the Original owner got a bunch of goodies from Ford and their dealership they aren't obligated to give them to the next purchaser.
