Hi, new user here. Strongly considering ordering a new 4 door Bronco when the next window opens up. I currently have a 2005 4Runner. I've yet to sit or drive a Bronco and I have a few questions. What is the back seat leg room like? Also, I understand that I will have to order one and potentially have a long wait after that. What are the stages of ordering and finances? Do you order one and just put a deposit down? When do you become responsible for the whole amount? Any information you can provide would be great. These vehicles look awesome! Would love to see/seat in one if anyone is in Southern New Jersey and is feeling nice, ha ha!

Sorry, but I'm more Central/North Jersey, otherwise I'd let ya sit in one.

1. Rear Leg room isn't bad. I can sit in back (4 door) with room left over. I'm 5'-11". Not best room, but not bad.
2. Ordering. Long wait? Depends on what you order. My kid ordered a Bronco in January (2022), had it by May (2022). He just got a Base. If you order something like Base through Outer Banks with 2.3l & soft top, you have a good chance of seeing it in a few months. But commodity constraints do change monthly.
3. Ordering/Down Payment. Depends on the dealer. Some dealers want $500 down, some want more and I'm sure a few even want less. But that should be decided at time of order. (Keep in mind, delivery time table also factored by dealer. Small dealership could take much longer than medium size or large dealer)
4. Final Payment/Financing will occur the day you take delivery of the vehicle. Don't let dealership run credit at time of order, it's pointless. And honestly, I financed through my credit union, much better rate.

I think that answers most of your questions.

I think it is great. Although honestly you shouldn't take my word for it. Watch sound YouTube videos and if possible check out a Bronco in person. What is "great" for one person may not be enough for another. I will say the Bronco is a mid-sized SUV, so if you are expecting a Suburban or a Expedition-sized vehicle... the Bronco isn't it.

This is HIGHLY dependent on the dealer themselves. Some dealers require a deposit, some dealers do not require a deposit. I would say... generally speaking... the process looks like this:

1. Walk into a dealer and work with them to configure the vehicle you want.
2. Come to an agreement on pricing, get that pricing in-write in the form of a buyer's order or purchase agreement.
3. Place your order with your dealer and provide your deposit (if necessary)
4. When the vehicle arrives, go down to the dealer to finish up the paperwork. At that point you would have to pay for the vehicle either in cash, using financing you obtained, or using inancing the dealer obtained on your behalf. If you plan on obtaining your own financing I would in absolutely have a conservation with the dealer before placing an order to ensure they do charge extra when using outside financing (some dealers do).
5. Drive it home!

For dealers that do require a deposit... most dealers have policies that say the deposit is fully refundable up until the vehicle is assigned a VIN—which typically happens 2-3 months before the vehicle is actually produced. Once the vehicle has a VIN, it is basically "locked in," and the dealer can no longer modify that order. But again, verify with your dealer.

BTW - #2 above is very important.
I'm not going to say it is a common practice, but some dealers will stick an ADM on your order once it is delivered. There have been people waiting close to 2 years to get their Bronco and then get hit with an ADM when it finally arrives. Very shady.

Check out the growing list of MSRP dealers on this site and find one near you to help with the pricing issues some are facing.

Another option if a dealer near you won't honor MSRP pricing is a drop ship. Generally speaking it will cost you an additional $500 to have your vehicle drop shipped to another dealer - meaning - you order it from Dealer A and take delivery at Dealer B. All paperwork and financing is done through Dealer A who pays Dealer B a delivery fee of ~$500, which would be passed on to you.

This is a great way to work with a reputable dealer if you feel confined in your community!

I have a 2 door and the leg room is stunningly ample. It is very spacious. when I was a teenager I had an 87 crown vic and this seems more spacious. Rode and drove in a 4 door at the Bronco Off-Rodeo and a couple things to consider if you care: you can sit 3 in the back of a 4 door vs 2 in the back of the 2 door. Additionally the cargo space is significantly larger in the 4 door. Neither is lacking in legroom, cool factor nor fun though!

When they first started taking orders and reservations the dealers were such a pain, at least the one I talked with, it seemed like they didn't even understand the ordering process, honestly it's why it took me so long to finally order. The dealer I ended up going with didn't require a deposit, I sent them my order sheet that I built online, they sent me the confirmation with the price for me to sign then they sent the order off to Ford. I won't have to pay for anything until the unit is at the dealer and I go sign for it.

Thanks everyone for replying. I have called four dealerships in my area and none of them have a Bronco to see, sit in or test drive. Crazy!

Nope, it is rare to find a dealership who has one to look at. I have only been able to test drive one and see maybe 3 or 4 others in person, and that's across multiple dealerships.

They would really be doing themselves a huge favor to allow people to buy their way into Bronco Off-Rodeo for this reason. Although it might cause everyone to want a sasquatch or be disappointed with one that isn't. The event is great as are the staff but it really is a customer paid advertising blitz and with the shortages I feel like it would help potential buyers as well as keeping order holders from giving up.

If you order one you are only out the refundable deposit, once you have an order you are eligible to attend the Bronco Off-Roadeo. that is where many people first had a chance to see, feel and taste what a Bronco has to offer. about this time last year Dealerships had Mannequins that they were not aloud to sell for 6 months, I was lucky enough to test drive one at the my dealership.
Or I hear there is a dealership in the Houston area that has 7-8 of them for sale you could always fly down to Texas and sit in one maybe even test drive it. you could make a mini Vacation out of the deal. I wouldn't buy one as these are used units selling for $20k over new MSRP thats why they still have them, but good for a look.

Perhaps. Currently the parents of my son's friends have been test driving mine because the snotty dealerships just laugh and won't let anyone test drive unless they committ to buying. Isn't that what a test drive is?! The stealerships are not doing Ford, nor Bronco fans any good not even themselves in the long run. I drove 70 plus miles each way and got mine at Korum Ford in Puyullup WA great people to deal with and at a normal car normal times markup. Ford of kirkland had atleast 12 lined up sitting due to markups they might allow test drives but then again my son had cash in hand to buy a used mustang but when asking for a test drive the salesman literally laughed at him assuming he was some tire kicking kid. Used them previously, NEVER again. Ford actually be better served using those silly car vending machines then some of these lots

My understanding is same as RagnarKon's post on June 30. In my situation I am trying, like so many of us, to reduce wait time where I can. Instead of customizing, I worked with them between the three Broncos they apparently have "on the way" in the model I am looking for. They took my deposit in order to hold the vehicle and reserve it for me exclusively, and gave me the window sticker for the one that I reserved which has all of the details on that vehicle. Hoping for good things with that process and very excited for my new Bronco!

I hope they aren’t charging you an ADM. Keep us posted on your progress

Search your local area for cruise nights, car shows, auto shows...the Bronco crowd isn't a bashful crew, we love to show off our rides. You may not get to drive one, but you may be able to beg/borrow a ride from someone.
