Oil Leak in brand new Bronco

I took ownership of my new Outer Banks less than 3 months ago and it had a oil leak that was leaving a trail and a smell. Took it into Ford to get it fixed and it has now been 3 weeks in the dealer. First it took them awhile to get the part they needed and then the part didn’t fix the problem. They still have it and I am hopeful they will figure it out. Has anyone else had this kind of problem? I love the Bronco and I am very bummed this is happening.

Have not had that problem. But do tell us what the dealer's final repair is. The more knowledge we gain, the more we can do these repairs in the future. You know, when warranties run out and stuff.

Few questions:

1. What engine and transmission do you have?

2. Have you taken it offroad?

3. How many miles on it?

4. Have you changed the oil yet and if so did you or dealer do it?

I have to go look up the engine to make sure. I have not taken it off-road yet, and it has 800 miles on it. I have not changed the oil yet. The dealership said there was a faulty gasket at first, but now they are not so sure. More to come as soon as i hear back from the dealer.

Ok. Now need to confirm your engine (2.7 V6 or 2.3 I4).

Btw. TFL had an oil leak that turned out being a blown shock. But since you haven't gone offroad yet, this is most likely not the problem with yours.

Keep us posted..

Ok. Other than this 2.3 owner (see pic) no I have not. I have a 2.3 manual transmission with 2300 miles. Will check mine. Just had dealer change my oil at 2200. No leaks. If no news from me, that means no leaks on mine.

I am losing my patience. Apparently there is a gasket and hose that needs to be replaced and they have had my Bronco in the shop for 3 weeks and are predicting 2 more weeks!!! I have only had the truck for 2 months and now it will have been in the shop for 5 weeks. The dealer tells me that they can’t get the parts because Ford has not created replacement parts. “They are taking them directly off the line”, in their words. Has anyone else had this problem?

To make it worse, I am without a car. Ford warranty says they will give me a loaner in this case, but they have no loaners so I am stuck without a car. Does anyone know who I can ping at Ford? This is pretty ridiculous.

I would look tell the dealer to look at his used lot and create a loaner!
That Sucks!
I would also tell the dealer you are going to slam them on Bronco Nation!

Is it the head gasket? That's one of the only issues I've heard of with the 2.3 engine.

Hopefully it gets fixed soon and be as patient as you can with the dealer, not their fault + get more fly's with honey.

It's hard to get any parts these days so everyone do you best to maintain and take care of your vehicles (broncos/other).

BTW I needed some wheel well liner clips for my badlands because some of mine fell out OR not installed at the factory. My dealer at first thought they were the larger clips/plugs, which would have taken WEEKS to get but they thankfully had a few of the ones I needed in stock which I bought and picked up asap. Anyway, keep us posted.

I am being nice to the dealer. It’s really not their fault. I am upset with ford though. I didn’t know the Bronco came in a lemon flavor

The 2.3 is much more reliable than the 2.7. Sounds like you just got a bad seal/hose. The engine should be fine.

Off topic. Was watching the 80s movie "Roadhouse" the other day and when Swayze took his beater to Red's auto parts store for a new windshield Red said "Its going to take a Few Days, is that ok?". I almost cried lol

Let's be clear, there was a "bad" batch of valves that went into 2.7 engines last year which is the cause of most of those blown engines. Ford identified that issue and dealt with it last year. If you have a 2.7 built after the fall of last year, that shouldn't be a worry for you. Once you take that out of the mix, I don't see any difference in reliability between the 2.3 and the 2.7.

My wife's Lincoln MKX has the 2.7, 70,000 miles, and we have not had any trouble at all. The 2.7 is used in several Ford and Lincoln models and has a proven record. Solid engine, really snappy and responsive. Ford fixed the issues in the early Broncos so there is nothing to worry about with the 2.7.

NO, but took over 3 months (from before last Thanksgiving!) to get some rear brake parts for our new F-150. There were 684 owners waiting for the same part(s) before me when I checked one time. Wife just called this a.m. and said "the brakes still squeak!...." universal problem--don't think I can blame Ford.....yet?!?
