Still early, but so far Florida's had 17 confirmed tornados - NO injuries yet! Right now, the worst tornados are in eastern Florida. There're couple very dangerous twisters near Westlake, just west of West Palm Beach and further north near Fort Pierce.

Hope everyone's in a safe place. The evacuation window for west floridians is closing. Many roads & bridges are closed, Gasbuddy.com reports half the gas stations in Tampa area are out of gas, and power's out in large areas.
Can you imagine trying to flee to safety in an EV?

We’ll, not to start a fistfight, but if caught in a traffic jam (or stop and go evacuation) an EV would be an advantage…

As long as you’re within range of your destination, an EV is no more dangerous than any other vehicle, even if submerged or hit with lightning…

I was just at a 3-day off-road gathering in Vermont, with trails from soccer-mom friendly to "winch/lift/35" tires/and-can-you-risk-vehicle-damage? Casualties included a Rivian. Don't know the details, but apparently it went dead fording a creek or something. Hate to think what the recovery will involve--or cost.

Also, the computers in a new LandRover decided to start an argument with each other, and then died on a narrow #3 (of 5 grades) trail, blocking the entire group for most of the day. I saw another LandRover winched front-and-rear over a high, sloping rock--which sloped into an actual cliff. One to pull, the other to protect from sliding laterally (and down). The 2-door Bronco which followed put out a front winch, mainly for safety, and navigated the rock with ease. And my Bronco handled obstacles on #5 trails which some pretty sophisticated Jeeps needed to winch over. But my skid plates earned their keep!

About a 45-minute job! We further back bushwacked a workaround. The 2-door Bronco which followed put out a front winch, mainly for safety, and navigated the rock with ease. Just pulled into a Panera for their basic brew, consumed purely for metabolic reasons, hoping to meet up with an interesting old character in the "Northeast Kingdom" VT. He's an old, ornery character and harvests lumber just because he can't stop working and mills it himself. His 2x4s are genuine 2x4, not 1-3/4 by 3-3/4, "true cut," his planks are accurate 1x12x12ft. All naturally dried. And he has lumber stacked all over his ramshackle place, you'd think it's Appalachia. So I'm hoping to buy his hand-crafted. "Tom, we're both pushing 80, what are you going to do with all this stuff? Let me buy it and build a house for my son and his wife. I still have my Class-A CDL, I can rent a heavy duty 12-wheeler and haul it down myself."

A guy came up in the parking lot and said, "That's the best-looking Bronco I've ever seen," makes my day, almost don't need my caffeine fix. The MEKMagnet "Topo"-graphic design catches attention. He's a serious Jeepster, we shared some tales.

Just got a return call from my fellow geezer, we're good for lunch in an NH country diner, wish me luck!

Where are you in NH. I could feel a bit sick for work tomorrow and take a ride up? I had a busy week, so I am planning on taking Friday off and probably some time tomorrow to get the Hell out of there. Though we are going to the girl's college to watch their volley ball game on Saturday.

Good morning Al!
Yes, we made it home last night around 8pm after leaving the Asheville area around 4:50am. To say we are all tired is an understatement, but it was all worth it. Yes, the world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket, but it is truly inspiring when you see people come together to help others. We joined an established organization in the Hendersonville area to hand out everything from baby formula, diapers, baby wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, cereal, bananas, rakes, shovels, water and etc...
I wish we could have brought more down but the Bronco is not the ideal tow vehicle considering the 3500# limit. I do think that we went quite a bit over that but it pulled like a champ. It didn't look like much in the trailer until we unloaded it all.
One of the amazing part of it was nobody took more than they needed. We also took 35 gallons of gas down there to give to those that needed it. Some declined the gas and told us to give it to others that needed it worse than they did. Neighbors looking out for neighbors. 💗

The gal in the minivan below almost cried when we offered her some gas. She was trying to get supplies for her neighbors that didn't have a way to make it into town.

Besides Mike ( @SlashRacer ) who physically came down with me, there were numerous Bronco Nation members that helped behind the scenes with donations to help with the purchase of gas. Not to mention the prayers and well wishes. We have one amazing community here!

Keeping an eye on it on the Weather Channel. Looks like a helluva disaster. Wait until the EV's start burning. Stay safe!
