I am new to the Bronco and to this forum. A friend told me about this site and I have been sucked in!!!! Love it!! My rookie question is this: can I get an aftermarket keyless door pad on my Badlands Bronco? My wife is famous for losing the key and our Lincoln has the option and we use it religiously. Any thoughts on adding it after the fact?

Yes... If you buy it from the ford accessories website its often 15% off, but it has to be programmed into your bronco by the dealer and they may charge you a few bucks

A quick google search seems to indicate that you can get one aftermarket, and '21/'22 Bronco are explicitly listed as compatible.

Keyless Entry

And I agree, you don't realize how great of a feature the keyless entry is until you get used to using it. It will actually be a challenge to remember to take the keys with me in the Bronco when I've got the top off. For the last almost 9 years, my keys have just lived in the center console of my Escape.

That's exactly what I do with my key. It lives in the car and we are struggling now since my wife, my son, and I both want to drive the Bronco and she has the darn key in her purse. UGH!!!!!! I am on the hunt for the keyless entry. I hope it's accurate when they list it as compatible since the doors come off and add another layer of complexity with the pigtail. I am ON IT!!! Thanks for the quick reply!

Some owners mount it on the inside of the fuel door. Also, keypad security comes in handy if lets say you go surfing and don't want to leave your keys on the beach. I was told you can leave keys in car and arm the vehicle with keypad.

Should be able to unlock and lock your doors through the Ford app on your smartphone.

I first learned of the greatness of the keyless entry when I purchased a loaded 1990 Mercury Sable Wagon (showing my age). I have included it on every Ford product I've driven since. Currently have a keypad on my F150 and on my wife's Lincoln MKX (hidden in the door frame). Added the keypad to my Outer Banks order! And yes, you can leave the key hidden in your car and arm the security features with the keypad.

My moms 1988 Grand Marquis was the first car we had the Keypad on, out 1990/91 Nissan Maxima had it too. every FoMoCo vehicle we have had has had it. I cannot live without it. I Changed my order to the Everglades but did not add it to my order because I want to attach it to the rear tailgate so that if I go doors off I can still access it to unlock the tailgate. I just don't want to mess with it in the fuel door, Not for me. I will order the from Ford and add it on.
there are no wires it is kind like the key pad for my Garage door opener, which I use all the time. the only thing I give up is if you order it with the bronco it comes color matched, if you order it separately you get black.

I checked the link on Ford/Lincoln and they seem to be out of stock. #Notsurprised.
After some reading I see that they are for vehicles with an automatic transmission (which I do not) and that did not allow me to have the remote start feature on my fob. Makes sense but the pads (black only) seem to be for remote start. So... the plot thickens.

I like the idea of hiding the fob behind the fuel cap. I also forgot about the app. It makes sense to leave the key in the car and use the app. GREAT IDEA in the absence of a keypad.

Will the bronco lock from the app if keys are inside the bronco? I would check but not near my bronco at the moment..

I THINK so. My wife has the car today but will be home soon to check it out. That seems to be the best option with the keypads being out of stock.

Cool. Thanks. I dont know why you would need the keypad then if you have the app...maybe as a safeguard in the event your cellphone is lost or cellphone battery dies with keys still in the bronco.

I rarely have my Phone on me when i am working around the house, and if I am doing something that i don't want to take my Key I surely don't want to lug my phone along. but I mostly use the key pad for the few times I actually lock my car and need to just grab something from the car instead of trekking all the way to the house to get the key. I don't/rarely lock my cars I live in the sticks, I gotta pack snacks if I want to visit my neighbor. :ROFLMAO:

I can see with the App it might not be a need but it sure is a nice to have for some of us.

The most awesome thing with the App is my daughter locked her keys in her Maverick while I was 3 states away, I was able to unlock.

I am seriously considering the keypad now!
