If you don’t mind a little drive, Kansas Rocks has some great trails. They also have an Off-road 101 course they offer a few times per year that is super cheap and has some excellent instruction.

Awesome andnthanks for the information. Hoping to go to the Bronco Rodeo in Moab in late September, but would love to get some experience under my belt beforehand.

Get to the Bronco off-roadeo course as soon as you can. It will introduce you to what the Bronco can do, and give you confidence in your rig--and yourself. Worth the time and money.

On the original Lone Ranger show, his Indian friend called him Kemosabe which means trusted scout. However, in Apache is means idiot. Lol, I love the name because I loved the T.V show.

"Idiot?" Come on--you're telling us that these two characters, who bonded together very powerfully on radio (where it originated), TV, and movies were calling each other "idiot?" That simply "does not compute." That bogus interpretation is very recent, and reflects woke trends which enhance Indigenous peoples at the expense of Euro-descendants. There is an Apache word that resembles "keosabe," but that translate as "white shirt."

The most common explanation is that it was a partially adapated/made-up word that the original radio director Jim Jewell it came from Michigan "Kamp Kee-Mo Sah-Bee," and he is the one who said it translates as "Trusted/Trusty Scout," or "one who points." Scholars of Native languages concur.

There's a lot on the internet on this. Start here:

Hope this helps--dear, trusty Kemosabe! You can "wear" that nickname with pride. Enjoy that handsome OBX--now go scout out some good trails on the Great Plains!

PS: I'm a writer and pay close attention to name origins.

"Aces & Eights" is, according to legend, the hand that Wild Bill Hickock was holding when he was shot dead--in the back of his head. 2 aces (Ace of clubs and Ace of hearts, maybe spades), 2 black eights, a hole card, now known as the "Dead Man's Hand." According to the story, it was the one time Hickock sat with his back to the door.
Although I'm retired law enforcement (10 years now), I always 1) carry concealed, and 2) sit facing the door.
Always.

You did know that, Aces & Eights, right?...Right?
Drive carefully!
