What’s an influencer?

A ridiculous non-job job that Millennials and Gen Zers think they are going to be and make tons of money doing it because they have a "unicorn complex" where they are a very special unicorn and unique and everyone wants to hear their views.

Then when they get huge "likes" and "following," ignorant advertisers and manufacturers then partner with them to "curate" and "create" their content and pay them. But, in the beginning, they just make money by the number of ads they generate...

The ROAS (Return on Advertising Spend) for a manufacturer on these deals is generally speaking $0.01, but the influencer can sometimes make out like a good con artist with the dough...

That's the layman's description with a slight bit of sarcastic tone overlaid.

(Disclaimer: I work for a large manufacturer. I work in Marketing Analytics. Happy to provide technical terms, but the sarcasm was more fun.)

Marketing Analytics - Niiiice. I work for Adobe as a Product Manager on the Experience Cloud side. Lots of Analytics and optimization going on here. Trying to use GA on my own personal manufacturing site, but it's been a long time since I've used it. Good summary btw :)

Town & Country Ford have a pretty good YouTube Channel. I'm debating launching my own You Tube/Insta page as a tax write off.

I follow a few Bronco enthusiasts on YouTube. In no particular order, they include:

Sarah-N-Tuned - She is a panic. She owns her own shop in the southern California desert and works on several projects simultaneously, including a 6th generation Ford Bronco. Very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Chase Gentry - He is very active in the Broncoverse and always seems to be adding something or changing something on his Bronco Wildtrak. Fun to follow his exploits. Great drone footage! (and Bronco Nation member)

Long McArthur Ford - Sales and industry news are provided by Tim Bartz. Very informative and helpful Ford dealer.

NorthWest Bronco - A Bronco off-road and overlander enthusiast (and Bronco Nation member) delivers some interesting Bronco content.

The Lonely Overlander - A Bronco Nation member from north of the border, who gives some interesting perspectives through his exploits.

Ask Jorge Lopez - A Ford dealer salesperson who shares a lot of useful behind-the-scenes information regarding Broncos and other Ford products. Much-appreciated straight talk!

Town & Country TV - Mitchell Watts is a Ford dealer salesperson who like Jorge Lopez, delivers straight talk about Ford products and the various goings-on in the industry. He also shares a lot of content on modifying Broncos. Very inspiring!

Wild Horses Off Road - Bronco Nation member Mitch Creel offers a lot of content involving both new and vintage Broncos. It's often entertaining and informative. Very active in the community.

Driven Mad - A Ford Bronco owner shares his off-roading experiences and offers comparisons to his Jeeps.

All-Terrain Nation - It is not limited to Ford Bronco, but this is one of his latest acquisitions, so he imparts a lot of Bronco-specific information and shares his off-road experience.

North Shore Bronco - This channel is run by a Canuck who owns a modified manual 6th-generation Ford Bronco and also works as a tech at a Ford dealer. Interesting insights.

Vaughn Gittin Jr. - All-around Ford enthusiast and influencer by virtue of his knowledge and experience. Also runs a shop called RTR that specializes in Ford performance and offers lots of Bronco modification components.

Driven Wild Outdoors - A Bronco Nation member whose family owns two Broncos and who share their overlanding experiences. They also attend Bronco-themed events.

There are many more, but here's a place to start. Enjoy!
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

Well since you brought up YouTubers... there is also Justin B McBride.

And some other really good channels that are not strictly Bronco-specific:

The Story Till Now - Probably my favorite channel lately. Largely focuses on overlanding, he owns a Bronco, but spends most of his time in a Jeep Gladiator.

Expedition Overland - Another overlanding channel from a "traditional" media filmmaker. Definitely one of the more "big budget" channels, and they are sponsored by Toyota, so you will only see Toyotas on their channel. But I've gotten a ton of ideas from their channel.

Trail Recon - Yet another overlanding channel from a Navy vet. He also owns a Bronco, but usually is driving a Wrangler.

Lite Brite - A controversial pick. This is more of a "life style" channel and a lot of their videos many people will find annoying. But they own a Bronco Raptor and do a lot of off-roading. They also have a VERY good former military mechanic (Chris Payne) working for them that knows his stuff. I've learned a lot from his videos specifically.

I don't even have an Instagram, nor do I give much time to folks trying to influence me. So, I'd suggest going outside with your Bronco and seeing what kind of influencing you can do on your own.

There are really good influencers and really bad ones. There is immense power of influencer marketing but sadly the automotive world doesn't have a ton of strong contenders. It's a Gen-Z industry so age will have a massive impact on how you view and think of influencers.

Oh wow... didn't see a video on that. He's been posting supercuts of his past videos, so admittedly I haven't watched any of his stuff lately. Must of briefly mentioned that in a new video that I missed.

You could tell that he liked the Bronco... but the Bronco didn't really feel "at home" for him. Which I can understand.
