Happy new owners of a 2022 Bronco looking to better understand our bike rack options. Were hoping we could get one that attaches to the spare, but realized the backup camera makes that impossible. Not super excited about rooftop and adding a hitch model isn’t ideal. Any thoughts/experiences/advice welcome.

Welcome to the BN !!!
Just curious here,
What make it impossible because the camera is in the middle of the spare?
Is there some sort of faring in the bike frame that blocks the camera or is it something else ?

Do you have a hitch? If so, add 2’ extension and your bike rack. If not, I did see a 2dr with a bike rack seated above the spare tire. Haven’t done the research to determine make/model but it must exist.

Hey Kingofkerhonkson,

I just went through your process of trying to decide what type of bike rack is the best. I have owned roof tops, trunk lids and hitch models before and the Bronco is a bit unique as to what works best.
Due to it's height, a roof rack is not really feasible, plus I have run a few of my bikes into the entrances of underground parking as I have forgotten that it is up there.
All the tire mounted ones did not hold the bike securely, at least not to my liking. My bike is worth a lot, and having it move about on the tire is not too my liking.
That leaves the hitch models, and as DDM stated, a 2" extension will give you access to the rear of your Bronco, provided you buy a hitch rack that folds back.
The best hitch rack that I found, and ended up buying is the brand VelociRax. These racks, do not move at all in the hitch due to their very successful use of a anti-movement locking system. It folds back allowing for easy placement/removal of your bikes, and comes in 7, 6, 5, 4, and 3 bike models, and they are made in Utah. I would suggest that you check them out...

Hi 14U,
The camera is in a tube that the spare fits over and none of the racks we’ve seen can fit over that tube… and the folks at Ford told us even if they did it wouldn’t support the rack.
