On a Saturday, I decided to build my own rear seat delete to use my Bronco, if need be, as a camper, and have room for my 2 dogs. I removed the rear seats with 18mm deep socket wrench, used a fork to remove 4 plastic interior screws around the seat belt, left the seat belt (female) alone (folded down), used a contour gauge to make a cardboard template, saw cut my OSB board, used Gorilla spray adhesive (1 can), to glue grey carpet on the board. It took 1 full day since I still ran errands. The 2 rear seats were lightweight to remove. I tried to look on-line and saw rear delete kits for about $900 and thought I could build my own for less. Carpet (just bought 1 piece that was 6'x8') and spray adhesive bottle was less than $100, and I already had a saved OSB panel. I left notches in the board so I can still use the tie-downs.1648281422552.png

I like it. How long will it take to put the seats back in? I'm assuming just bolt them down and take only a few minutes.

This is wonderful! I've been thinking about doing the same thing for my 2-door (which is also Race Red). Now, can we get more photos of your dogs? lol

I haven't put the rear seats back in since I am regularly taking my 2 active dogs hiking and don't want to get the rear seats dirty. With the rear seats folded down, it leaves about a 4" bump. I never give 3 people rides and just usually give a f1riend a ride and haven't needed to put the rear seats back in.

Hahahaa! Thank you. If I can do it, then you certainly can do it, too.

Have you had any issues with the power point disconnection on the seatbelts or seat sensor ?
What did you do with it if anything?

I didn't disconnect anything. I left the whole female part of the seat belt together with the spring and tucked it between the Bronco floor frame and under the black thick carpet foam. I turned on the Bronco and no sensors or warnings appeared. The floor frame does have a slight cavity to lay the seat belt flat.20220319_143709.jpg
You probably could take it apart more, but I didn't want to lose parts, so I kept it all together. The platform rest flat above it.

Thank you. I'd recommend a 18mm deep socket for the backs. And I didn't have any nice detailing tools, but a butterknife worked well to pop open the small plastic panels to get to the bolts.20220319_133556.jpg

Hey ,
Yeah thank you.
This has been my main concern, good to know the system can be kept as wired.
Thanks Again.

Excellent job. I have been pondering the same for my 4door. Whenever it is that I get it.

Looks good, and like the extra room. I am in same boat, doubt I would have anyone riding in back, thought about removing seats, and adding the 4dr storage unit for organization.

So I have been wondering, I see two wires to the seatbelt plug. I am wondering if someone couldn't make up male looping plug so that we could unplug the seatbelt and just trick the system into thinking its still there. Any electrical geniuses out there that may be able to figure this out.. It would be great to just put in a plug and leave the seatbelt assembly attached to the now removed seats.

Just to clear it up a bit, there is 1 wire from the seatbelt plastic encasement into the small yellow plastic conduit. I kept the seat belt together, with the black metal plates, and the spring with the bolt, all together, and flattened it in the red metal Bronco frame, and smooshed the black foam on top of it. There is another wire connected to the back rear seat part into it's own frame. I didn't disconnect that either. And no alarms or warnings came on.
