This is a guy who owns a salvage parts business in... Missouri(?)... I think. He buys junk engines, does teardowns, and saves/sells the good parts off of those engines. Awhile ago he started filming these teardowns and I've found it really interesting to see how these engines fail.
Been waiting patiently for him to teardown an engine used in the Bronco, and today was finally the day. This is the 2nd generation 2.7L EcoBoost teardown. This particular engine is from a F-150, but it's the same engine used in the Bronco. (Though the Bronco's version has been very slightly modified to account for the different engine bay layout and the increased angles experienced while off-roading.)
Nice video. I know jack about engines, but that was interesting to watch

Long video but interesting to watch. I did fast forward thru the parts that didn’t concern me. 🐎

The wet rubber belt driving the oil pump is one of the big reasons why I went with the 2.3L engine by the way. The video does a good job demonstrating the issue I have with it.
It's a good engine, much improved over the gen 1 2.7L. But I don't think it's an engine that'll reach 300,000 miles by itself. It's going to need some help and undergo some fairly major maintenance of the components behind the timing cover to get there.
