Good morning yinz,

I'm planning an epic 2025 King Of Hammers road trip & thought I'd see if anyone had any good tips/advice for me.
I'm from western PA & will be leaving the weekend of Feb 1st to head west.
Our plan is to drive to Sedona AZ, where my friend lives to link up with him.
A couple planned stops en-route are the Petrified National Forest & the Corner in Winslow.
Once in Sedona we're going to do a trip to the Grand Canyon & a day of local trails.
We're going to head from Sedona to Glamis CA, to spend a day in the dunes, before heading north to Johnson Valley.
At KOH, we'll have an F350 with a 30' trailer, in addition to the Bronco, so we probably won't be able to stay in the BN compound (I think I'm still gonna get a spot to park & use the food/restroom setup).
After the main 3 days of KOH, we're going to head towards Colorado for some skiing.
I'm hoping to drive through Zion, Bryce Canyon & Moab before coming into Colorado & seeing Telluride, Gunnison Black Canyon, then working my way east to Salida before turning north to Breck for a few days of skiing, then back to home.

This isn't a trip I'll be able to repeat for a few years, so I'm really trying to cram as much in as I can into a two week period.
I can basically leave on Jan 31st in the evening & have to be back at work by Monday morning on the 17th.
So if anyone has any good tips for places to stop that aren't as well known, I'm all ears.

Wow, sounds fantastic! And don't discount Basecamp for the truck yet; we've accommodated other Fords with trailers before. We'll know more as we get closer, though. It'd be great to have you there.

What an awesome trip you have planned.

I can tell you that the broken arrow trail in Sedona is fun and scenic. I think it's a must do. Sorta a Mini Moab.
Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona is neat and I wish I could remember the place there with the great burgers.
Petrified Forest, if you miss it, It will still be there next time.
Look up walnut canyon near Flagstaff too.
If you get to stop in Williams AZ, fun route 66 town.
And Moab will give you off road overload. And incredible scenery.

Colorado mountains are incredible too. They have such a wow factor.

Im am native Arizonan and been to most all that you mentioned. So for what it's worth, You have so much to see on your route I think you'll be overloaded. You might just want a little more time at some and not try hitting everything. Each place you mentioned could be it's own destination.
Either way you are going to have a blast.

Thanks for the advice.
Broken Arrow was definitely on the to do list while we're in Sedona.
And I can't really justify driving all the way to Arizona & not seeing the Grand Canyon, even if it's just a quick visit, because I've never been there before.

I guess I'm just trying to pack as much as possible into two weeks because I know with how my work & time off is, I won't be able to do this kind of trip again for a while (and when I do, I probably want to go more PNW for my next epic trip).

Your right the grand canyon is a must see, even if it's a short visit.

When we travel east and see all the green we are taken by the vegetation. Has a cozy feel. Then after a couple days we start to feel claustrophobic. Same with the west coast.
That may sound strange to you now. Just wait until you see the west open up.

And we have a 2 week trip planned on the Oregon coast

Nice. I've been to Colorado 4x for skiing & a fall trip to Breck, but never to the west side of the state.
And never been to NM, AR, CA, NV or UT at all. So very excited to see those, even just driving through some of them.

Someday I'd love to take a PCH trip from Seattle to San Diego by motorcycle. Feel like that would be pretty awesome.

Overall, I just need more time & less work to see all the places I want to see lol. Don't we all!?

The Western coastline is a great drive, which I do several times yearly. It's a great combination of mountains and beaches and everything in between including dunes, if you ever wanted to do the trip in the Bronco. Though technically PCH is only a section within California. The HWY101/HWY1/PCH is a buffet of natural beauty with many cool and oddball stopping points along the way.

Couple of questions as we start to plan a little more - when do you expect to have more info on Basecamp?
And are side x sides allowed?
We're planning on bringing a 30' toyhauler, pulled by an F350, along with my Bronco & a SXS in the trailer.
As a complete noob to this, I'm thinking we'd probably have to reserve 2 spots to accommodate the trailer & parking the vehicles.
We'd really like to be in the basecamp if possible, but if it doesn't work, I'll still likely reserve an overland spot & bring the Bronco in to hang out.

I heard planning is in progress, but I can't give any promises on when info when be released unfortunately since that's out of my hands.
SxSs are fine, and you would fit in one spot based off past years' dimensions (30'x15'), but disclaiming that may change just to set expectations. Sounds like an awesome setup, and fun!

Thanks. I'm naturally a planner, so I'm trying to do everything as early as possible lol. I'll try to remain patient....
