Grasshopper (2024 Big Bend)

Oct 05, 2025

Yesterday took a ride in Grasshopper to the Overland Expo East in Arrington VA. Since I was near Bald Mountain Trail, I decided Grasshopper would have some fun. If any of Bronco Nation members in the Richmond VA area ever want to do a day trip out and back let me know I’ll be happy to go out there again and again and again. However, unless you’ve done a build like mine or have a Sasquatch package this trail isn’t recommended. I do not think it’s Non-Sasquatch friendly. I feel a non-Sasquatch will get stuck on this trail and require recovering. But super fun trail about 10 miles long and took about 2 hours in four low.IMG_2573.pngIMG_2550.jpegIMG_2553.jpegIMG_2554.jpegIMG_2556.pngIMG_2557.jpegIMG_2560.jpegIMG_2561.jpegIMG_2564.jpegIMG_2566.jpegIMG_2567.jpeg

I haven’t been to Bald Mountain in over 40 years…. Glad to see it is still open.

I may take you up on that offer come spring @jackskym! I live in Spotsylvania and work in Richmond. Just got my new ride a couple weeks ago. Still acquiring a few mods and dealing with some family things before heading out that way. How do you like that portable compressor?

That looks like a fun trail. @jackskym how are you liking those K03? I find mine to be a tad less grippy than I expected. backing into my garage to get the front tires over that 2" lip I almost always spin the tires, never had a problem with the GYs. but I am impressed how quite they are, even with the top off I hear others street tires over my K03.

Love that compressor. Very fast at airing up and doesn’t overheat.

I did Peter’s Mill Run yesterday. That trail didn’t require air down and is also non-Sasquatch or non-build friendly.

Spring it is!!!

You are correct, until worn in they are not great for slick pavement or smooth pavement gripping. But they are very quiet on the road. And when aired down, I’ve had no issues for grip on the trail.

maybe mine need a few more miles. I put them on, then took a 700 miles trip to Moab, and we did some trails in NV and CA so I only have about 5500 miles on them right now.

What pressure are you running them on the street?

about 36 psi whatever the lowest I can without setting off the TPMS. The first drive from SATX to Albuquerque they were set at 41 psi and the wife was hating life. I was driving the truck pulling the travel trailer she was in Darryl. so the next morning I let out a bunch of air and it made for a much smoother drive. And the drive to Baker CA and home was very pleasant.

I live in Richmond and would like to do some wheeling. Always looking for like minded Bronco owners to get on the trails with. If you are putting together another trip please let me know.
