Geneva Creek's a new trails for us, it's an hour west of Denver, just 6 miles south of Guanella Pass to Forest Service FS119.

There are at least 45 dispersed campsites located in both open meadows and treed/rocky terrain, from the valley floor up to near treeline at 11,600ft.

The trail's rated 'Moderate' above the seasonal gate, with several stream crossings that were about a foot deep today.

Upper Geneva Creek's Geneva City was a busy mining venue from about 1870s to 1950s. Remains of several cabins, mines & processing facilities are spread across the trail's last mile.

The views from this bunkhouse are spectactular!!

This cabin was complete with a fridge and nearby 1940s International truck.

Flathead 6 with a big hole in the block.

Geneva Creek Trail's under 7 miles so there's lots of time to explore & snack. The elevation's at 11,700ft, and in cool 60s - Perfect on a hot summer day! A local resident came out to say goodbye!

Yeah, this area gets tons of snow. Guanella Pass south's seasonal gate is just above Geneva's FS119 access, so it's probably very popular for snowmobile & nordic skiers. There are no facilities, but good parking for trailers, etc.

Take great care though. We passed several large avalanche chutes. One had a very large area of flattened trees in its compression zone. Geneva's works were seasonal, those old-timers were tough, but operating then at 11 - 12,000ft was impossible.

Should have clarified back in the 70's only skied the Duck Creek Trail as Geneva Basin was still operating + no matter where skied was always aware of avalanche chutes as checked out many areas on 4WD trails in July + August. But do appreciate the info.See you replaced the stock Goodyears on your Bronco [Do they work well + how much heavier are they? Hate to admit I only have 2,015 miles on my 2022 WildTrak + it will be 3 years old in October, has been a Hanger Queen as have been busy with other things.Always like your articles + pics!].Worked often in the Evergreen area when working for IREA out of Woodland Park for 8 years + 26 years for XCEL Energy out of Silverthorne for 25 years during storm outages as an Electric Lineman."Keep On Truckin' " Both My Broncos!

LOL - Lovely steeds there!! Yeah, we like these Michey Thompsons on Method wheels. MTs at 69# on Method Beadgrips' @ 28#, we're 5 or 6lbs heavier than OEM.

Haven't noticed handling or MPG change. Here's on-board's fuel economy screen today. Think this stat includes the past 40 miles that will include our Geneva Creek Trail trip.

WOW - Most impressive/powerful resume!! THANK YOU for our reliable power and keeping those electrons flowing in some outrageous weather events. Heck, that '03 blizzard put lots of communities in the dark for weeks, but not us!

Did the Goodyears wear out or did you have sidewall/tread problems when wheeling as I have heard problems from others?

GYs never let us down and could've run 'em another 5 or 8k. I just wasn't comfy riding those lite-weights on our very rocky trails.

Thanks Kenneth. That is my feeling also On the GYs Since early 70's have been over most of the "Famous" 4WD Trails In a Toyota FJ40,1951 Willys M38 + 79 Ford F150 short bed but always ran toughest tires I could find with good results[only a few flats in locations that were not too bad to change tire].But at 79 years old don't want to be having a tire problem on something like Black Bear. + with a 3 year old Maul Crawler LOL guess I have not wanted to get those 1st scratches + dents. Thanks for all the info-sorry to be a pest! Guess I'll pet my Hanger Queen on my way through the garage to walk down to the mailbox.Enjoy the weekend, although being retired I stay on my 1 acre homesite to avoid the worker bee crowds.Might see you on the trail in the future.
