Drummond Island- GREAT place to off-road!!!
We had a group of 5 broncos(@Deano Bronc, Suzie @Roughstock11, Tracy, @BroncOitis, Josh, Brian and Kristy and myself) who’d met at the Wild Blueberry in St. Ignace at 6:30am for breakfast. We left there just before 7:30am and made a 1hr and 5min drive to De Tour to catch the 8:40am ferry to the island. Lucky for us that there was only 3 vehicles waiting already to get on the ferry, so we were able to get on the 8:40 ferry and not have to wait for it to make another round trip.
Forgot…..one of the broncos got a cracked windshield on the way there. Sorry Henry!!! We scuffed some underside skid plates and maybe a wheel or 2. I felt like Paul Bunyan constantly hopping out of the bronco constantly to chop branches with the machette so we could get down the trails without scratches.
After many hours in the trails, we finally made it to the Pinnacle of Drummond Island to the place that is called Marblehead. It had rained really hard and the steps were wet and muddy.
The majority of the trails we went down today were BUMPY! It was a mixture of rocks and bumpy beadrock.
I love going to Holly Oaks, but this place blows Holly Oaks out of the water!!! The trails and scenery are fantastic!
I will be going back for a 2 to 4 day trip to do more trails there.
One thing to note…..there is ZERO cell phone coverage on the island other than near the ferry.
