Bronco on the beach?

New bronco owner. I have a 2023 Wildtrak 4 door hardtop. Do I need to let air out of tires to drive on soft sand Outer Banks beaches? Or is Sand GOAT mode adequate?

Depends entirely on the condition of the sand.

If it is the hot/dry/fluffy sand up away from the water or up in the dunes you will probably have to air down. If it's cooler, recently rained, or you drive closer to the water during low tide you can often get away without airing down.

Either way, I would plan on having to air down.

We have been on the Beach several times, I have never aired down and I think I only had to put it in 4-wheel drive once. But that is a Texas beach for you. Although you can get very stuck if you don’t pay attention. As @RagnarKon said it really depends on the sand conditions. And I would at least plan to air-down in case you need to. Be aware if you use the sand mode the Bronco will make some crazy noises.

Better to air down and not have to use recovery equipment or modes, especially if you drive on sand which maybe covered with water at high tide (see @Eninty, above). Also, traction boards, a decent shovel and a 12" by 12" by 3/4" plywood to foot your jack if you need to lift your rig. Practice prudent and patient driving habits if you're new to sand. It may be tempting to spin your wheels, make donuts, things like that, but go easy, first so as not to disturb the beach for others, and 2nd so you don't get bogged down.

If you don't have a compressor and hoses, ThorsLightning has a special, 15% off, code LABORDAY15.

I'd air down just to be safe. Better than being sorry you didn't. I'd also wash everything off REALLY well with fresh water as soon as you can. Sand is hard enough on brakes, joints, bearings, etc... as it is, but throw salt in there with it... look out.

Sand mode is a blast! Remember to turn you locker off after you put it back into normal mode or whatever.

Oh yeah! Night time was a blast too, played with the zone lighting. Lit up the pitch blackness nicely.

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

I agree with the folks that say it all depends on the conditions on the beach. However, I would suggest that airing down will also help you not tear up the beach as much since you'll have less wheel spin, and dig fewer holes. So, as a courtesy to others, I always air down in the sand.
