I was headed from Denver to MT, and decided to stop by Moab for a couple of days, in spite of the heat. Since the A/C works great, even when the truck is working hard, it was not uncomfortable at all. 😀
I wanted to run 2 of the trails I had problems on with my Bronco Sport, and also try something a bit harder, all to see how the WildTrak with bash plates would do.
I started with Gemini Bridges road, from the east, up to the bridges and back. (The more interesting part of the trail.) I also went down Bull Canyon to the Surprise Lookout ledge.

Of course there was no scraping and no stress on any of these trails.
Early the next morning I thought to do Fins and Things. onX rates it a 4, which is the same as Gemini Bridges and Chicken Corners.
I started on the south entrance, and took the standard picture:

And a bit later, a broader view of the Fins area...

FnT was MUCH, MUCH harder than anything I had previously done in Moab. So many people call this a beginner trail. Even with 11.5 inches of clearance, there was mild scraping of those bash plates I had insisted on. And the back tow point took a bit of a scrape going down one of the ledges. When given the option of the "harder" or "easier" way, I did choose the harder, but those drop offs, and/or off-cambers were pretty sketchy for me. I am sure the scenery was great, but because hard things happen right after hard things, there is not much looking around I could do. When I got back to the main road, I was worried. Was what I did the easy half, or the hard half? If that was the easy half, I didn't want to be stupid and get in even more over my head. So, I bailed on the north half of the trail.
Just to test myself, I went to Chicken Corners, which I had done in the Sport, albeit with some scraping. It was no issue at all in the full size Bronco. And, Chicken Corners is also rated a 4 in onX! The 4 rating must be pretty wide.
The views on Chicken Corners are second only to Shafer Trail in my limited Moab experience, and it was a wonderful ride...

And looking over toward the really Chicken Corner:

Anyway, I plan to go back to Moab in October. We will see what other trouble I can get into...
