Ok, Never used a trail app before... but never went on what I would call real trails either.
But we are going to MOAB... So I want to be ready...
I downloaded the onX app to my phone, and it realy doesnt show me how to use the thing.
From the look of it, you got to buy a membership to figure it out.
For someone that wont be using the app very often,
is there a way to see how it works, before I get membership to it?
There is a free trial for 7 days,
so maybe I wait till I get there to try to figure it out? Is that an app for more advanced user and frequent users, or is pretty good for the old guy that ay use it once a year?

You can use the OnX app but you might need to download the trails you are planning to take before you get out of cell range.
We got this book and some paper maps from a book store in Moab that were very helpful.

Most of the trails are not difficult, but there are some. Potash to Shafer, Long canyon, Onion Creek, Secret Spire, Debinky wells are all easygoing trails with some amazing views. More iconic trails that are easy would be Fins n Things. Hells revenge is not terrible but it is nice to go with someone that knows that trail the first time. Top of the World is cool but the last 1/4 of the trail is spicy, but the view is amazing.

YOUTUBE has all the videos you will ever need on how to use onX.

As far as cost, there was an option (I think through Ford) to get 1 year for free. All you need to do is email Bronco Nation (or send a message to Laura) and ask if it's still available.

I have a Gaia subscription, but have moved to using mostly TrailsOffroad. Trail write-ups and reviews for all the major trails in Moab. You can do an offline save as well for when you're out of cell range.
