For those of you who use, like or want a RotoPax system they have just came out with a 5 gallon water canister. They say it will also fit in a standard 5 gallon Jerry Can mount.

The 5 gallon water jerry can that came with my camper leaked, so they sent me a new one ----> the replacement also leaks. 😩

I just ordered the Rotopax 5 gallon water jug, they are calling it a Camp Jug, and their extra cost spigot for it so hopefully it does not leak. If it does, they say they have a 10-year warranty against leaking..

Here is what their website says about it:

The RotopaX 5-Gallon Water Container is designed for those who need a tough, dependable water storage solution. With the same footprint as a standard NATO/Jerry can, it fits seamlessly in traditional jerry can holders and mounts securely with RotopaX Pack Mounts. Whether you're storing water at home, bringing extra to the campsite, or preparing for emergencies, this container is built to perform.

Features:

  • NATO/Jerry Can Footprint – Fits standard jerry can mounts for easy transport and storage.
  • Easy-Pour Handle – Designed for better control and smoother pouring.
  • Self-Venting Spout – Includes a yellow self-venting spout for efficient, spill-free use.
  • Spigot Upgrade Available – Optional spigot attachment for easy dispensing.
  • Ultra-Durable Construction – Built to withstand tough conditions and heavy use.
  • 10-Year Leak-Free Warranty – Backed by a decade of reliability.
  • Versatile Storage – Ideal for home water storage, camping, and vehicle-mounted emergency use.

No matter where you go, the RotopaX 5-Gallon Water Container ensures you have a reliable source of water when you need it most.

I'll report back on it after my next camping and off-road trip that I have planned in a few weeks..

Hmmm...tempting. I just might get it and get the optional turn valve with it. My thinking is: mount the water tank with the turn-valve, and use the spout for gasoline. I have (but have not used) the 5-gal tank, but that comes with one of those "safety" spouts. Every "safety" and "no-spill" spout or dispenser I have ever used has been insufferable: either a major inconvenience or so freaking tricky it actually spills fuel. The RotoPax fuel spout apparently has a trigger you have to press against the lip of the truck's fuel intake to release the fuel (haven't used it yet) but I just know it won't work pressed against the Bronco's rubber opening.

When you consider the 1-2 gallon tanks go for $50-65, $70 for a 5-gallon is a pretty good deal. Please, do give us a review on it. I'm half-sold already.

Just saw an Craigslist ad for a RotoPax rear tire mount kit, never used, for two RotoPax accessories for $100--but drats, it's in New Jersey.

I have a trip planned for the 9th, 10th, and 11th next month so I'll let you know how it works out. I do like the fact that they have a 10-year no leak warranty on it..

Price wise, it's on par with other quality 5 gallon Jerry Cans.

I just used the 4-gal RotoPax, and was very annoyed and frustrated by their ridiculous safety valve. The soft opening of the Bronco fuel system doesn't allow you to press the hook on the tip of the nozzle against anything to allow flow--and you still have to twist a little collar simultaneously.
I just posted a 1-star review on RotoPax. I hit "send" before I thought to cut-and-paste it to place here. If they post it, I'll do that.
You can get a free-flowing spout from RotoPax for $13 (plus shipping, I suppose). I found the same on Amazon for $11, with free shipping.
I'll let you know if RotoPax contacts me. I ended my review: "I notice RotoPax is based in California, mecca for psycho-regulators."
The container itself is good and strong, with lots of holding positions, which I appreciate. And I still might get that water container.

The Ai13 spouts and adapters are awesome for the RotoPax fuel cans. I use them on my RotoPax fuel cans and they work great..

https://ai13.us/products/all-metal-pax-nozzle

Make sure to add the Spout Adapter for our Bronco's capless fuel inlet:

https://ai13.us/products/spout-adapter

If you want the Ai13 spout to fit / store inside the RotoPax can (at least I needed to do this on my 3 gal fuel cans) you have to remove the white plastic filter that's inside the can, cut the bottom off, and then put it back in.. It's easy peasy though.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was thinking of getting this off Amazon for $13, which seems simple enough.

My needs for trip refueling are once-in-a-while, as (we are truly blessed, no sarcasm) fuel and food are frequent and abundant in our nation, and our economy.
Counting shipping, the Ai13 (with dispenser extension) runs me $40 more than the yellow "water" dispenser alone. I don't see myself using this more than four, maximum six, times a year. So what do ya think?

That would be fine, I'd think, as long as you don't store it inside the can with gas inside. I suspect that the yellow plastic water spout's gasket would not last long and would probably leak after limited use.

I think people used those with the old Roxopax gas cans but the new ones have that funky insert. I think it's called a fuel mitigation device (FMD)..

Give it a shot and see how it goes. For $13 bucks, it's worth a try, if you don't want to spring for the Ai13..

Checked out some Utube videos, and where the jerk regulators don't require the ridiculous "safety" spouts, the yellow RotoPax is not restricted to "water only." So there! I'll buy mine off Amazon, as with Prime it's free delivery. I'm sure RotoPax would stick shipping onto my total.
But I do want to shop for a quality venting valve. One Utuber said it took about 15 minutes to empty a 4-gallon container!

Cool, good luck with the yellow ones.

If you have the newer RotoPax jug (2009 and forward jugs) you are still going to have to remove the white FMD filter and cut the bottom off if you want to store it inside the jug.. I would have to do it on my 3 gallon jugs, not sure about the 5 gallon jugs.

If you don't cut the bottom off, it won't fit as the spout is too long and if you don't keep the white filter inside, the spout won't fit securely and will be loose.

My Ai13 spout takes about 30-45 seconds to empty a 3 gallon jug into the Bronco.

Also, RotoPax has free shipping on everything so If the RotoPax price is the same as the Amazon one, I'd personally just order from RotoPax.

I greatly appreciate your experience-based advice, thanks.
Ai13 sent me a friendly answer, and informed me they offer a military/vet discount, but I think I'll go with the yellow spout. It should be perfectly adequate for my needs. And Amazon's is a $12, with free shipping.
I'll let you know (for curiosity's sake, in your case) about whether it fits in the Organic High-Efficiency Free-Range Non-GMO Gluten-Free Metric Fuel Mitigation Gizmo or if I have to remove it. I'll leave it in if the spout fits--my little bit to help fight "global warming," or whatever. I'll see how it works before I think of putting an air vent on my 4-gal.

Minor note: Actually, I do use my gas cans more often than I first realized. When I max out my gas points at a local supermarket at 30 gallons ($1.50/gal discount), I take 4-gal RotoPax and a 5-gal generic. Those, plus a truly empty gas tank (21 gal, including reserve), and I buy my 30-gallons on the cheap. That's a $45 savings.

The RotoPax Camp Jug and their accessory spigot worked great. No leaks or issues and I really like the spigot..

The last 2 water cans I had both leaked so it was nice to not have any leaking issues..
