I am considering purchasing one of these for my camping trips.

Anyone using a Skottle or an iKamper Disco?

The Disco, while more expensive, looks to be much easier to clean and maintain as it does not need to be seasoned.

Here are the two I am considering

iKamper Disco: https://ikamper.com/products/disco-...5IotiW29WoqZfC2QZda4cY5SFPvfWdT5cVhHOpgP7vYpF

Tembo Tusk Skottle: https://tembotusk.com/collections/adventure-skottle/products/adventure-skottle-grill-kit-1

I am leaning towards the iKamper Disco but am open to options or other considerations..

I have the Skottle and love the cooking versatility. If you have used cast iron cookware, you are already a master outdoor chef. I use the Skottle while camping in the woods and at the beach. I cook most of our meals on the Skottle. Clean up is a breeze, just like cast iron. For fuel, I have used the small green 1# cans and the 20# tanks, both work great. I'm not familiar with the iKamper Disco. Good luck.

Thanks for the response.

The Disco (dumb name) is pretty much the same as a Skottle but with an enamel cast iron skillet instead of a standard cast iron. It supposedly makes clean up and maintenance much easier since it does not need to be seasoned.

iKamper is proud of their products and the Disco is no exception as it's $100+ more expensive than most Skottle's but it does have some cool and unique features.

Ahhh. Like cast iron, I seasoned the Skottle once and then lightly wipe the cook surface down with oil before putting it away. I'm confident that you can't go wrong with either. Give the Disco a try and keep the group posted as to your cooking success.

Cooking and success are 2 words that should never be used together when describing my cooking skills.. Unless nobody getting food poisoning is considered a cooking success. 😜

Just another option. I use one of these. same type of principal but the Disco is more like a wok than this. but you can cook just about anything on these.

I got my Skottle just over a week ago. I’m still getting used to cooking on it.

I cooked for 4 people on it this past weekend. Cooking for 4 people on it can be challenging. I also used a camp stove with a frying pan.

The Skottle is 18” and the center 8-10” is where most of the heat is at. It was challenge cooking 4 ribeye steaks at once on it. The Philly cheese sandwiches wasn’t bad. I will adjust the meals to something smaller and easier to make.

I have also found if making scrambled eggs for a group of folks it was easier to scramble the 8 eggs then pour about a 1/4 on to the cooking surface and cook that till done then transfer to a plate then cook the next batch when that is done move it to the plate and so on. It seems to cook faster with far better results than pouring the whole batch in at once.
