Steps for Ordering Process - 2022

Hi all - I've looked for an outline of what to expect from a dealership, should one initiate the ordering process.

I contacted a local dealership today (2022-2-14) and they linked me to the Ford Bronco Build website, and instructed me to configure a vehicle and route it to their dealership. They then emailed me a "Preview Order" sheet with my configuration, sales code, order code, order priority, etc.

Not sure if that means they actually placed an order, or what... Can anyone outline the steps I should expect to see from this point forward? What should I expect from either the dealership for FOMOCO?

Thanks in advance

You should receive an email confirming your order. Keeping in touch with your dealership for updates is the best source for status. Read Bronco Nation posts every hour... (ok not every hour)....and learn the fine art of patience.....:giggle:

Should but you might not necessarily. I didn't get an email so I contacted my dealer to confirm the order had been placed. He sent me a pic of his screen that had the order number showing it had actually been placed.

If you do get an email from Ford (read my last post above) that will probably be the only correspondence you will get from them. Everything else will probably come from your dealer. Hopefully they have an open line of communication. Some do and some don't.

Thanks all for the replies. I'll call the dealer tomorrow and ask for a screen shot or something with an order number. I guess my impending retirement will be based on when the bill comes due for the order...

I placed an order at a local dealer in Nashville on 2/1/22 and was given a copy of my build sheet with an order code and sales code. I then received an email confirmation from Ford within an hour confirming my oder from said dealer. A week later I called Ford to confirm my order. They asked me specifically for my order and sales code before they were able to confirm my order. Congratulations on your order!

Make sure you ask if they honor MSRP. Also if they are not a high volume dealer don’t order from them. You’ll be in for a very long wait if you do.

That's not necessarily true. They may not be a high volume dealer but they may also not have very many orders. People have been getting lucky at smaller dealers.

Yeah, I think the best you can do is go with a dealer with a good reputation and a salesman you can trust. Make sure you have things in writing and that nothing is implied. Right now I do not believe there is much of a rhyme or reason as to which orders are pulled and which are not, at least based on what I am reading on forums. I believe manufacturing can only improve and things will begin too look better by Memorial Day.

You should get a priced order confirmation (POC). It shows the price. If the dealer is going to charge a mark up, or a lower price, they should write it on the POC and sign it, then ask you to sign it. That should guarantee the price you pay so that it doesn't change between the time you order the vehicle and when it comes in.

I just did mine, I actually went in after doing the build on Ford.com, I received an order preview and we both signed a buyers order form that showed the agreed upon price. I got an email from Ford soon after saying my order was received. Now, the wait.

Make sure you get a signed (by both parties) agreement regarding price, fees, taxes, licensing. I also made my dealership include language that no dealer mark-up or hidden, undisclosed fees or dealership options of any type can or will be added at time of purchase.

UPDATE -

So again, thanks for all the advice so far. Since I got the "Preview Order" sheet echoing back my configuration, I've had a number of email interactions with the sales rep. I have asked repeatedly for a Priced Order Confirmation (POC) and have been deflected every time. The most recent reply from the sales rep was:

"I understand your concerns, but Ford has also put me in a position before by changing cost’s on vehicles. specifically the Bronco when they did a change on the costs from 21 to 22. If they change something, that I have no control over, it wouldn’t be fair to me. I can confirm that we will not add a market adjustment. I hope this will be enough for you. I really have no reason to not be truthful. I get nothing out of not being honest."

My last reply back was:

"I’ll propose a compromise. I understand that FOMOCO might adjust the MSRP which would also affect TTL. I can calculate those on my own, and of course I’m not holding your dealership responsible for Ford MSRP pricing.

However - any other costs beyond MSRP and TTL will fall to the dealership which you can provide details for, correct?

Or - If you are saying that there are NO other charges that will show up on the final bill of sale other than MSRP + TTL then just confirm that is the case back to me and all is accounted for.

I really appreciate honesty but in regards to a purchase north of $60k I think asking for written confirmation shouldn’t be an issue.

If your dealership won’t allow you to provide this transparency please let me know - I’d rather do business with a dealer who will."

______________

I have gotten no response - I don't know if they actually placed an order, or what. So I'm planning to call and cancel/discontinue our engagement. Anyone think I'm off-base here? If they DID actually place an order, is there any concern with asking them to cancel it?

I would be cautious if my dealership refused to agree to MSRP and give you a written guarantee. They wouldn't be bound to an exact price if for some reason it increased if all they agreed to was MSRP. There are numerous dealerships that have done this, so I agree with you it might be time to find another to deal with. The only concern would be if you gave them a deposit.

9 times out of 10 that's because the dealer put a typo in your email address when he/she entered the order. Have your dealer double-check if you never got an order confirmation email. Now, in my case, I got that, I got a build date email, along with a push email. After that, I had to follow along on the Ford website to see where my Bronco order was, but never got another email (i.e. no "built", no "shipped", etc.). I DID get the "baby picture" of my Bronco coming off the assembly line, however. So clearly my email was correct in Ford's system. It's just that the sending of those emails seems to be a little hit or miss.

I contacted them a few days later. My order actually went in the same day I placed it. He sent me a pic of their list of orders and I was on there. Really no need to bother with the e-mail at this point. Not like I would get any other correspondence anyway.

You SHOULD get an email when your Bronco goes from "ordered" to "production" (i.e. when you get a build date), then another as it moves through the production process from in protection, to bult, to shipped. Like I said above, I got the "in production", and then nothing, but you can check that on the Ford website. Also, you want to make sure that email is correct in case Ford wants to send you that baby picture. :-)

I ordered without a reservation so I wouldn't be able to check the status anyway. But good point on the baby picture. I would want that for sure.

Have you called the Bronco help line? I never received a confirmation email. Then I tried to sign up for off roadeo and they couldn’t find my order either. Called to verify, and thankfully they had my order. Contacted the dealer again, and they had entered my email address wrong.
