Hello. I've been a stalker for awhile now and wanted to ask a question for all of you that has ordered and purchased your bronco. When you order it I know you put your deposit down but do you make any payments while you wait or do the payments start when you take ownership. I would assume you don't since the delivery time from order to dealership can take months to years. If everything goes well this next couple of months I should be able to put a order in for a bronco whenever the order banks open back up in March. I just wanted to learn as much I can before the time comes to go order. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the wait! Payments start when you actually take delivery. Some of us were able to pay ourselves during the wait and had a decent down payment.

Just to add on to what @Jakob1972 said... the deposit is a very dealer-specific thing. Some dealers require deposits, some dealers do not.

When you buy a Ford vehicle, you are actually buying it from the dealer (not from Ford)—so you are beholden to the dealer's prices/policies/etc. Which also means if you don't like what the dealer is offering in terms of pricing/policies, you can always go to another dealer and place an order there.

I had an exisiting relationship with my dealer after having bought 7 new vehicles from them, they charged no deposit. If you have a dealer that tells you that you need to make payments while you wait for an order to come in, run away from that dealer as fast as you can!!

The dealership I would be using is gateway Ford in Greenville TN. They said 1000$ deposit for the order. They never said anything about payments through the wait period and I didn't think about it while I was there.

The reason, according to my dealer, for the deposit is because every order is a “special order” to your specs and if you back out the dealership is stuck with the vehicle… likely not an issue with a Bronco, and my dealer said they have never withheld a deposit if something happened and the sale didn’t go through… protects the dealer (a little) if you order a purple bronco with a green interior! :)

And to be honest I'm not sold on using only this dealership if there's a better deal through another dealership. My in town dealership isnt much to talk so I've personally ruled them out just from my own experience of buying vehicles with them.

I would check other dealers. There are plenty that do not charge any deposit , unless you're limited on dealers because of your location (?). If you don't mind paying the deposit then it's no big deal, just know you just won't see anything for that $$ for 1-2 years.

I personally don't think a deposit is a bad thing.

I will say if you do place a deposit, you need to negotiate the final selling price before placing that deposit, and you need it in writing. This should be everything, final selling price of the vehicle, documentation fees, and dealer add-ons, etc. etc. Basically everything except the sales tax and the registration fees, since the state government dictates those and not you or the dealer.

Granted I would probably negotiate the final selling price regardless, but if I was placing a deposit that paper work would be a "mandatory" step. If I'm giving them cash to place my order, I want them to secure my purchase price in return.

The salesman at gateway told me when I was there that the sale price was MSRP plus taxes and registration. I know a lot of dealership's are doing "marketing adjustments" on the broncos and that was one of the reasons I was considering this dealership is because of purchasing at MSRP.

It's not your vehicle until you buy it. So no payments right now. The smart bronco order placer starts making payments to themselves as they wait to increase their downpayment and essentially reduce their final payment when the vehicle arrived.

General feelings about this is that anything over MSRP on an order is ripping you off. In stock or abandoned orders, dealers can get whatever the traffic will bear. Ran my '21 through KBB, private party value is $14000 more than I paid. Here and there you'll find a poster who bought off the lot at MSRP, but they are few and far between.

Thanks for all the input guys. Since I still have time I'll check with some of the other dealers around here and see what they do with orders. I have some properties that I'm selling pretty soon and the little lady told me I can keep some of the money to cover the purchase of the bronco. I just didn't want to have a payment before the properties sell. So hopefully everything falls the right way for me and I can join the waiting club lol.

I saved for almost three years. When it finally shows up I’ll be financing less than 10k. We had a huge slow down in the housing market here in DFW. If it wouldn’t have been for that it would be paid in full.

The markets kinda slowed here too. I'm hoping that some of these big name housing marketers will take interest in the location of the properties since they are already building near it.

Since the beginning of the year it’s taken off again. The four big builders we supply for have gone back to building homes like crazy. I’ve dropped about 30 frames this week. We have 14 drivers to give you an idea.
