Hello!

I currently hold the vanity tag "1234567" on my CR-V and I love it

I have a few bronco puns in mind for when I take delivery of my '22 base in a few months.

Is there anyway to get the vanity tag secured before purchase, or can the dealership do this at time of purchase? (the dealership is in VA)

OR would I have to take the temp tags and go to the MVA to apply for the tags AFTER delivery.

I ask because I have seen other members have their vanity tag ready to install at purchase, in other states tho.

WORST case, I will change my trade in vehicle to my Bronco vanity and just transfer it then. But I'd rather not have my bronco joke on my Honda, ya know?

IDK maybe im overthinking this - just don't want my pun to get taken, hence why I didn't say it yet lol.

In Louisiana, I traded a vehicle with a personal plate, and the dealer processed the registration and tag transfer for me. i can only assume it’s the same at all dealers. I had to display the temp tag until I received my registration from DMV, at which time I attached my plate.

That makes sense, ok so worst case I will get my personalized plate on my CR-V, and just have the dealer transfer it and use the temp tags until processed. Sounds manageable.

Each states operates a little differently so check with your DMV to confirm the best course of action on MD

In NY, I secured my vanity plate by requesting it for an exerting vehicle that I own and once my Bronco arrived, the dealer was able to simply transfer the plate (and registration) to my Bronco - I brought the plates with me and I drove off the lot with my vanity plate attached. I then needed to get a new registration and plate for the other vehicle.

gotcha, that honestly sounds like my best attack method on this.
