Bronco Raptor PSA (>$20k markups)

I was initially told I was not eligible to receive a Bronco Raptor. Fast forward a few weeks, dealer call and says they have 1 Raptor allocation and it’s mine if I want it (like a dream come true!). However, there is a $20k markup. I was told that’s “low” for Raptor markups and to expect that as the standard for a while. Im incredibly disappointed, but I don’t know what else I would expect at this point.

Unfortunately that sounds like a fair deal. You just have to ask yourself if you really want to spend that extra money on a over the top looking Bronco. Unless you plan on racing the thing I would rather spend less money and get something like this.

The dealers I checked with were $20k. I found one dealer at $10k and jumped at that. The rest had no allocations, or they were taken by ticket holders.
I was not a ticket holder, only a retail sale.

Ticket holders have their own allocations that do not count towards a dealers normal allocations. My dealer is not charging any ADM on the ticket holders allocations but is on the retail side. I have a GREAT dealer. I had the golden ticket and turned it down . My dealer did the right thing and gave it to the next person on the list at MSRP.

Ahh okay. So if I understand correctly there are 2 “pools” of orders; the dealer allocation and the order holders?

Yeah, pretty disappointing, I was passed over by ford and my dealer (early 7/14 res) however my dealer received over 10 hand raisers plus additional allocations to sell off. I spoke with a dealer offering only a 10K mark up, but in all honesty, after pricing one out for probably around 78K or so then another 10K on top... nah, not worth it to me. I don't care about the 'you could sell it for xxxx"... Happy with my WT HOSS 3.0 for now. It will be modified some, the raptor would have been modified as well.

my dealership had told me up front that they absolutely would charge ADM on the BRaptors. As they alway do with all specialty vehicles. A la, Raptor, Tremor, GT 500. Hell they didn’t even get any! Three hands raised 0 tickets

I was going by what my dealer told me. It has been such a cluster. I'm glad you had a good dealer. This ordeal has turned a lot of good dealers to bad. Good for you to turn it down and allow someone else to have a dream instead of buying and reselling for profit. I plan to keep mine, probably for life. I still have my first car in the garage, 40 yrs. :)

Oh I turned the Braptor down. Reordered the Wildtrak with HOSS 3.0 it’s going to be my mini Raptor. Kept my place in line hoping to get it this summer.

Yeah my dealer said they got 0 Bronco Raptors and only getting (8) f150 Raptors.
Even though the Raptor is a limited edition, you can’t swing a cat around here and not hit a Raptor it’s probably every third Ford truck on the road.

Dealers are thieves. This is known. People will adamantly defend their dealer or where they work (this week…it’s a high turn over business) but in the end, it’s true, they are all thieves. They will blame the market, price of gas, or anything other than their own greed.
If they bought it at an auction for over sticker, yeah, charge whatever you want but if this is an order and isn’t built yet, why the mark up? How is it possible for a dealer to sell a standard Bronco at MSRP (which is still ridiculous but that’s the life we are living right now) but a “special order” somehow makes them broke if they sell for sticker?? This is no different to the people at the factory than my standard “special order”. For this reason, all dealers are thieves. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you’ll no longer think $10k over sticker is a good deal.

Especially since if it wasn’t for you ordering that Bronco they wouldn’t have that Bronco to sale at MSRP or ADMs. And since we can’t order directly from Ford we have no leverage. I just hate dealerships that charge $20k over for doing nothing but being the closest Ford dealership to a person. Clearly to FMC we don’t matter.

I won’t say that Ford doesn’t care about it’s customers but I won’t say they do either. The job of the CEO isn’t to be a good steward to its customer base, it is to make his shareholders money. If you make a quality product that people want, you sell more and the shareholders make more money. If you have a crap product, they lose and you lose the shareholders. To a business, a customer is a necessary evil. I say “evil” because customers (us) complain, want it better, and want to pay as little as possible but yet, the companies still need the customers so you can’t piss them off too much. It’s a “catch-22” scenario. In Ford’s case however, because they are so big and the Bronco is in such demand, they don’t have to get involved with dealer/customer relations because it’ll sell anyway. I say all of that to say, it’s not that Ford doesn’t care but instead, Ford doesn’t need to care.
And it’s true because I ordered a Bronco knowing this.

Even dealers who were and are selling Broncos for invoice or below are selling the Raptor with ADM. It will be several years before you can touch one without any ADM.

Well some of the same stuff I would have modified with the HOSS 2.0. Will see how the new tie rods do, but there are some nice ones on the aftermarket now. Will be running 37s, so need to get into the fox shocks and figure out what needs to be done. Changing out springs? Modifying the travel, or just a complete swap. Control arms etc. etc. We had lots of time to dissect the HOSS2.0 and particularly the bilsteins, but at this point we don’t know much about the Fox 2.5s. Full specs have not been released. We can speculate based on other fox models out there. Looking forward to more detailed info.

Thats what I’ve been spending a lot of time on recently. Trying to figure out what would be needed to get 37s on. I couldn’t figure out if it would negate getting the 3.0 all together or if there would still be some benefit
