Surprise, surprise! Dealership called about paying an $8k upcharge

Dealership assured me they would charge no more than MSRP on my 23MY Badlands Sasquatch 21 Sept 2022 order. Yesterday (14 Oct 2022), dealership called about 3 cancelled orders and I could get one sooner by paying an extra $8k. Then added that Ford pricing on Broncos was increasing. Think this is an example of grifting, conning, deceiving, etc., disappointing.

Disagree. If these are canelled orders, they belong to the dealer, and the dealer can charge whatever he can get. You want the contrated MSRP price? Fine. You've read all the threads about waits and deliveries, you know the situation. You'll get it at MSRP...eventually.
I chose the other route, and frankly paid through the nose. Another dealer texted me about a Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, and tow--more than I had contracted for. So I ponied up the money and bought it, and am very happy with my decision. At 75, I want my toy now, and have an even better one than I first planned on.
You're free to pay "Admin" fees ( $20-30K in the Boston market) and get your Bronco, and do with your ordered Bronco when it comes in. Cancel the order and let the dealer make the money, or take possession of the Bronco (if you have the financing) and flip it--which is what I plan to do.

Hehe, hear ya about being not a young whipper-snapper, 68, myself. Advised dealership I was willing to wait, because I'm still happy with my ole 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Appreciate the reminder that cancelled orders belong to dealerships.

The first Bronco I owned was a cancellation… It also was the first shipped to the dealership….

I expected an ADM even though I had a second day reservation ordered… I offered 5 K over… they said no … “this car is offered to you (as a early reservation holder) for MSRP!!!”

I was stunned… So then I asked what about my Reservation order???? Do I lose this … his reply “No”… when we get your reservation we will buy back your used Bronco… again stunned at their fairness….

So I paid MSRP for my ‘21 4 door Blk Diamond SASQ Tow mid softtop July ‘21
Fast forward Aug ‘22 my 2 door Badlands SASQ lux HD bumpered
Arrives…. I had 6k on the ‘21…. They kept their agreement and bought my ‘21 back at MSRP (which is unheard of)
Then I They honored MSRP agreement for my ‘22 ….

Walnut Creek Ford kept their word… two broncos, both purchase at MSRP and paid MSRP on the trade in….

BEST DEALERSHIP EVER.!!!!

Tell your dealership my story….

First pic…..day of purchase July of ‘21 of my 21
second pic ….day of purchase Aug of ‘22 of my reservation order ‘22
Pic 3 last look at my ‘21 when they bought it back a year later for MSRP.

Hope this helps

Appreciate hearing your fantastic Bronco acquisition experiences. Got my dealership voicemail upon returning from a "fun" visit to the dentist, yesterday. So, returned the phone call when not quite at the top of my game. Thinking back over yesterday's dealer conversation, nothing changed with my only Bronco order. Dealer was just trying to get an extra $8k on his cancelled order, my original order still stands at MSRP.

According to my dealership… Ford’s policy (aka suggestion) was for dealerships to offer the cancelled orders to the reservation holders first…(at MSRP) then if no takers then they can mark them up to the public!!!!

Your dealership knows this … they are being greedy!!!

I think you should let them know what assholes they are being!!!

Lithia? Probably all dealers, but I worked for a dealer network, Lithia Motors, and I'd be surprised if all they were charging was $8k over. They are the worst dealer network in at least the world, maybe other worlds too. $8k almost seems "reasonable" considering all the shenanigans that have gone on with this vehicle.

Very happy for you that you had such a positive experience with your dealership. Make sure you go on Google, Yelp, and any other customer-review sites and give them a strong recommendation.
The fact is, dealerships are businesses, and businessess exist to make money for their owners or investors. Now we'd like them to be sweet and generous, but when there's an opportunity to make a profit, without violating legal or ethical boundaries, that's what they do.
But your story stands as a heartwarming exception to the multitude of tales of woe on this (and the other) site.
Genuinely happy for you.

I should mention that I don't blame the dealers either except the ones that promise MSRP on orders then try to plus $5000.My build is this week and my wait is the 18 month average so I will appoligize for complaining as to not jinx my purchase.

The newest sales guy is probably the one that ordered that SPECAIL order. My dealer has 3 (cancelled orders) available for sale. Just contributing to the backups for us.

Kinda forgot, went through a similar hassle when ordering a new 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, few years ago. Placed my order out-of-state to get it for MSRP. Plane ticket cost a lot less than the local Jeep dealership upcharge, plus it was a fun road trip home in my new Jeep.

Walnut Creek Ford was chosen by Ford for the Electric car sales… (October) program.
Those dealerships that chose sleazy greedy ADM profit over Fords recommended policy concerning Bronco Reservation holders could potentially limit their chances of Ford choosing them to sell electric vehicles…. See article about Jim Farley Ford’s CEO…

Walnut Creek Ford has/had a big financial incentive to stay in Ford’s good graces…

Walnut Creek Ford had between 400-500 Reservation holders… I was #95 (a day 2 reservation) And it took 2 years to get my build….delivered….

Two years waiting has not exactly been a great experience… I’m just glad my dealership was honest and straight forward…and kept their word.

I felt compelled to let people know there are good reputable Ford dealerships out there.
I guess I was fortunate!!

That's how I bought my 2022 JLR, Peterson's in Idaho did 6% off invoice, $39.8k with a sticker of $45.2k.
