Why Bronco Off-Roadeo is the Perfect Destination for Family Spring Break

February and March are by far the toughest in the Midwest. Especially miserable are the gray days when the temperature hovers above freezing, and slush falls from the sky. Ugh.

These are the days I daydream about Spring Break—about hiking volcanoes, camping under a warm blanket of starry sky or snorkeling in tropical waters.

If my family and I weren’t headed to Hawaii, I would most definitely suggest a trip to a Bronco Off-Roadeo location.

Let me show you why...

First: All Bronco Off-Roadeo locations are bucket-list worthy

New Hampshire won’t quite be open in time for Spring Break (which typically falls in March or April) but Texas, Nevada and Moab do not disappoint. They are all epic travel destinations, complete with sweeping vistas, spectacular accommodation and teeming with opportunities for outdoor adventure.

Next: Bronco Off-Roadeo is perfect for a family with teens

Did you know you can bring up to three guests for an additional fee? Guests 12 and up are welcome to ride along for the day while guests 18 and up, with a valid driver’s license, can share in the driving time. I haven’t yet had the chance to take my 15-year-old bonus son but I just know he’d love every minute even though he can’t yet drive.

Check out the testimonials below from parents of teens who attended Bronco Off-Roadeo...

“Off-Roadeo exceeded my expectations. It was just a great, fun day with my teenage daughter! Just a terrific program.” - James T

“My wife and I attend Bronco Off-Roadeo Texas and we can’t wait to bring our teenage children to the other locations.” - Bryan S.

“Overall a fantastic experience for myself and my teenage boys who attended with me. The staff, the food, and the instruction which allowed us a better understanding of our Bronco’s capabilities made it a great day." - Doug H.

Plus: Bronco Off-Roadeo partner resorts are destinations in their own right

Red Cliffs Lodge in Moab

Red Cliffs Lodge looks like a scene from an old western (but only in the coolest way possible). A series of cabins are perched along the Colorado River offering cinematic views of the canyon.

Not only is basecamp on property which makes for an easy early-morning commute, but Red Cliffs is also a hub for adventure offering horseback riding and white-water rafting excursions plus yoga, meditation, swimming, and tennis.

Red Rock Resort in Nevada

Red Rock Resort sits 10 miles west of Las Vegas at the base of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and just 30 minutes from basecamp on Mount Potosi. At sunrise, you’ll witness why they call it Red Rock—the eastern-facing mountains reflect the warmth of the morning sun with a hypnotic glow familiar to the embers of a smoldering campfire.

The conservation area hosts outdoor-loves and adventure seekers of all types with its many hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails.

Horseshoe Bay in Texas

Horseshoe Bay is a village unto itself. It’s situated on Lake LBJ with access to watersports year-round. You can golf, bike, play tennis and pickle, roast marshmallows, swim, soak at the spa—you get the idea. There is even a kids’ club with a two-story jungle gym and a rock-climbing wall.

Also, Partner Resorts are only one of many accommodation options

While all Bronco Off-Roadeo partner resorts offer a discount to attendees, we understand that every family’s budget is different. Good news, there is an abundance of alternative accommodations, including camping, within driving distance of all three basecamps. When my family and I are on the hunt for a campground we use KOA, search state campground websites, check out HipCamp and Harvest Host. With all those options you’re bound to find something perfect for your family and wallet.

Did I mention: The opportunities for outdoor adventure are endless!?

By endless, I mean there are way too many to mention in this article, but I will share with you a few of my favorites by location. You can also check out our Bronco Off-Roadeo location pages for additional free-roaming adventure inspiration.

Moab

Pretty much anything with Moab Adventure Center is worth your while. Rappelling and canyoneering should be top of your list. Although I haven’t been in a hot air balloon with MAB, that is one of my favorite family adventures and I’m certain their sunrise ride would not disappoint. If you’re looking for something lower budget, you can use AllTrails to find a trail rated to suit your family or rent a paddle board from Paddle Moab and take a float down the Colorado.

Nevada

I took my single, most-favorite adventure in Nevada with Evolution Expeditions. It was a nine-hour kayak tour that launched at the base of the Hoover Dam and included stops to soak in hot springs, explore caves and slide down waterfalls. I took the trip two years ago and I’m still basking in the afterglow. It’s a must book.

Texas

With Bronco Off-Roadeo's proximity to Lake LBJ, watersports are the obvious choice but the adrenaline junkies in your family will want to visit Spider Mountain. It’s Texas’ only lift-served, downhill mountain bike park open year-round. While this adventure is not for the faint of heart nor novice downhill mountain bikers there are other options like hiking or taking a scenic chair lift ride to the top which offers sweeping view of lake country.
