What Bronco Basecamp Is, Why We Love It

Last week, Bronco Nation was at Overland Expo, the event series of classes, vendors, demonstrations, and more for adventure travel enthusiasts. For the second year in a row, BN staff hosted another of our Bronco Basecamps there in Virginia.

Bronco Basecamp –– where Bronco Nation members meet out in nature –– are our dedicated areas to camp with fellow Bronco and Sport owners, paired with major community events. Our team sets up tents for members to stay in, secures overlanding spaces for those of us who have trailers or rooftop tents, and hosts daily trail runs with Bronco Off-Roadeo trail guides leading. Simply put, they are an excellent time to enjoy the outdoors, off-roading, and each other’s company.

We’ve done Basecamps everywhere from the desert floor of Johnson Valley, California for King of the Hammers to the mountains of Tennessee for Super Celebration East, all in the name of making it easy for you to come to a Bronco event, have a place to stay with likeminded enthusiasts, meet new friends, and take part in organized activities with the Nation.

Overland Expo East was our last Bronco Basecamp of 2023, and it was a family reunion of sorts for members who have met at others throughout the years … or even attending for the first time. There’s a magic to Basecamps, where you can arrive knowing no one, and leave with a host of people you’re already making plans to see again.

In Virginia, as with our other Basecamps, we centered the fun around the campfire and behind the wheel. Bronco Off-Roadeo trail guides Mike Clouds (Texas) and Blake Torgersen (Moab) picked three drives of varying terrain and difficulty to expertly lead members on. For those familiar with the greater Arrington area, we ran Enchanted Creek on Thursday, Bald Mountain on Friday, and Shoe Creek on Saturday. All three were fun, with great weather and even better company.

After the drives, our gang browsed the expo, cooked great food to share, swapped stickers, hung out at each other’s campsites and rigs, and sat by the fire laughing and getting to know each other until late in the evening. If you haven’t gotten to experience a Bronco Basecamp yet, then we sincerely hope we get to have you join us at one next year. This community is so awesome –– amazing people leaving lifelong imprints and impacts on our hearts and others. Thank you for making the Nation one of the best places to be!
