But these are not just any wallets. These are wallets that have been custom handcrafted exclusively for the Bronco Nation using upcycled automotive leather. (That means you could own a wallet that may have been destined for the seat of a Bronco or steering wheel of a Sport!)
These one-of-a-kind wallets are part of a new collaboration with our friends at Pingree Detroit — a worker-owned cooperative of U.S. Veterans and artisans rooted in the heart of Detroit. Since 2015, Pingree has been transforming upcycled automotive materials into footwear, bags, wallets, dog leashes, and more. And now they are creating items just for our Bronco Nation.

“We start with durability and sustainability,” said Jarret Schlaff, Co-Founder/CEO of Pingree Detroit. “Most of our materials are premium automotive leather and upcycled components sourced directly from Ford and other automotive partners. These are the same high-quality materials used in vehicles built to withstand years of wear. By reclaiming them before they hit the landfill, we not only honor their quality but also give them a second life in products designed to be just as tough and long-lasting.”
Authentic. Functional. American Made. Built to Last. The Ford Bronco and Pingree products just make sense together. I asked Jarret what he thought Pingree products and Ford Broncos have in common, and he said:
- Both are uniquely American-made, born from the hands of skilled workers who care deeply about what they create.
- Both are built to last. Broncos are known for their rugged capability, and Pingree products share that DNA; they’re strong, functional, and designed to improve with age.
- Both Broncos and Pingree goods turn heads — not because they’re flashy, but because they’re authentic and made for people who value quality and heritage.
He also added, “Plus, we think Broncos are some of the coolest vehicles on the planet and think our goods are pretty special, too.”

The first items available to Bronco Nation members are three different wallet styles — all made from leather upcycled from Ford vehicles.
“We specifically utilized Ford leather for this project,” said Jarret. “The Bronco Nation items are made from upcycled leather sourced directly from Ford and other automotive partners — often the same hides originally intended for Bronco seats and interiors, and pieces left over from the manufacturing process of those cars and trucks. Every piece is cut, sewn, and finished by hand in our Detroit workshop, carrying forward the same standard of durability that goes into the vehicles these materials were meant for.”
Each wallet was individually hand-crafted in Detroit by the Pingree team of U.S. Veterans and artisans. Designed exclusively for the Bronco Nation, all wallets are made with brand new upcycled leather left over during the development and production process of automotive interiors. Plus, they each feature:

- RFID-blocking sleeve
- Military-grade industrial thread

Fun Fact: “Torch Lake” is an incredibly beautiful lake in northern Michigan that is popular for its Caribbean-like crystal-clear water with a bright turquoise hue.
There’s so much about the Pingree Story that is special and makes the Bronco Nation team even more excited about this new collaboration. We love that the workers own the company and 77% of profits go right back to them. We love their support for U.S. veterans and local artisans. We love their focus on durability and sustainability, and that they’ve diverted 50,000 pounds of automotive materials from the landfill! How does Pingree ensure its products are built to last?
We approach durability the same way Detroit builds its vehicles: through precision, testing, and pride in every stitch. Our makers use industrial-grade stitching techniques, reinforced seams, and American-made hardware chosen for strength, not shortcuts. Every product is inspected by hand to meet our standard — if it’s not good enough for us, it doesn’t leave the workshop.
What is a “maker card”?
Every Pingree product comes with a picture and quote from the person who made it. That maker card is more than just a name — it’s a promise of quality, a connection to the skilled Veteran or Detroiter who cut, stitched, and assembled your piece by hand, and a reminder that every purchase supports free skilled-trades training, wrap-around support services, and living-wage jobs in our community.
What does it mean to be Veteran-crafted?
It means the people who make Pingree products bring the same attention to detail, work ethic, and pride they brought to their service. Many of our team members are U.S. Veterans, who have transitioned their skills into craftsmanship and leadership roles within Pingree. This is a core reason for us existing as a company; to create connections to each other and our broader mission, and craft meaningful opportunities to be in a purpose-driven environment and be part of something bigger than ourselves.
Just curious if you happen to drive a Bronco?
Not yet! I drive a 2009 Ford F-150—the same truck we use to pick up leather from Ford and other automotive plants for our workshop. But a Bronco? That’s my dream truck. It embodies the same spirit we put into our products: durable, American-made, and ready for anything.
Smells like a new car… Because it almost was one.
