Recently, Ford announced their exciting Bronco Off-Road Adventures program. These epic adventures invite owners to get behind the wheel of their Bronco and join fellow owners and expert overlanding guides on an ultra-exclusive four-day/three-night trip to your choice of three incredible locations.
There has been a lot of interest in the program since the first announcement here at Bronco Nation (the first two dates are already filled!), so we asked Mark Schaller, Experience Owner – Enthusiast Vehicles, and Jacqueline Smith, Experience Owner – Recreation from Ford Motor Company to tell us a little more about what makes this one-of-a-kind experience one that any adventure-loving Bronco owner would not want to miss.
OK, let’s start from the beginning — how did these adventures come about?
Bronco owners have been asking us for years to have exclusive epic outdoor adventures designed specifically for them, and we are pumped to finally offer these unique overlanding trips designed for Bronco. From the exclusive trails and the expert guidance to the chef-prepared meals under the stars, it truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
People can take other off-roading trips or plan excursions for themselves… why should they spend the time and money to take one with Ford?
Trip payment allows the attendee and their guest (if selected) to enjoy expertly guided overland experiences in some of the most beautiful natural vistas in America. Daily lessons will cover such topics as route planning, camp set-up, and good stewardship practices. PLUS, campers will enjoy three, chef-prepared meals each day, as well as camaraderie around the campfire each evening (location and weather permitting).
What are some of the things that make these experiences great?
There really is so much that makes this truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Probably three of the top things attendees talk about (besides the on-site Chef!) are:
- The Exclusivity. These trips are limited to 10 vehicles, which allows the experience to feel very personal and intimate. Some of these locations are on private land which is not accessible to the public. Just imagine being in a place like Yellowstone, but only sharing it with 10 other guests.
- The Team. You couldn’t create these experiences on your own, and we’ve assembled a team of world-class experts with decades of experience hosting VIP clients from around the globe.
- The Locations. Not only are these destinations incredibly beautiful, but they also offer some of the most unique opportunities for guests. One of the locations is a privately owned ranch that spans over 550,000 acres, so it’s essentially like you’re in your own national park. These locations are some of the most extraordinary we’ve ever seen.
Is there really a professional chef on site?
YES. Drivers can focus on the trails and amazing surroundings, and leave the cooking to our professional on-site chef. There will be a professional chef at each adventure location who will be preparing three full meals a day for all attendees. These delicious five-star meals will be curated on site, and will include selections that are representative of the local area. Of course, hot coffee will be served in the mornings, and snacks and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
Why should Bronco Nation members who already have some off-road experience do this?
These trips take you to another level of off-road learning. The trail rides during the day will be magnificent, but the learnings in camp and throughout the experience with be equally informative. The idea behind these trips is to provide an extraordinary experience, but also have participants walk away feeling like they’re better prepared to journey into America’s backcountry by themselves or with friends and family…and feel confident doing it.
What are some of the specific skills drivers will come away with?
Our guides will be teaching techniques on vehicle repair, winching and recovery, environmental stewardship, trail communications, how to spot a vehicle through challenging obstacles, off-road driving tips and etiquette, etc. Any prior off-road experience will make the trip even more enjoyable for participants.
Tell me about the guides… what makes them special?
Our lead guide, Pearse, is coming up on 30 years in the off-road community. He and his team have hosted events on six continents in some of the most challenging terrain and conditions.
This team as seen it all — from Rubicon Trail, Moab, Iceland, New Zealand, Alaska, Baja; you name it, and they’ve most likely already done it! Our guides are tremendously personable and will make guests feel welcome and part of the overall experience.
They always say “location, location, location”… how were the Ford Bronco Off-Road Adventure locations chosen?
It’s been our goal from the start to provide unique experiences to the Bronco owner, and selected these locations based on a few factors –
- Is this something they couldn’t do on their own?
- Are these experiences currently offered to the general public?
- Could we use private land to cultivate one-of-a-kind experiences?
- What type of off-road trails so we want guests to have access to?
Lead guide Pearse calls these unique destinations “Dream Drives”… and we could not agree more. Bronco Nation members can learn about each location at our website:
- Vermejo Ranch, NM • Eagle Nest Adventure (SOLD OUT)
- Moab, UT • Rocky Mountain Adventure (SOLD OUT)
- Winnemucca, NV • Emigrant Trail Adventure
Any closing thoughts for the Nation?
We’re constantly seeking new adventure opportunities beyond every-day usage for our Bronco customers and are thrilled to offer Bronco Off-Road Adventures! These one-of-a-kind experiences will be an incredible way for Bronco owners to conquer challenging off-roading obstacles with confidence, while camping on breathtaking private lands. There will be added amenities along the way including the tasty chef-curated meals. Our first two experiences have already sold out; so it’s great to hear how excited customers are to attend, and we look forward to bringing the adventure to even more Bronco owners in the future!”
