More than 175,000 2021-2023 4-door Broncos are being recalled due to seat belts being hard to reach. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has discovered that the driver and front passenger seat belts are difficult to access in their stowed position.
Need to Know
Several sites have reported on Ford recall 23C16, including NHTSA and Consumer Reports. Details include the problem –– people may not wear their seat belts if they can’t easily grab them –– and the Broncos affected: 4-doors produced between Sept. 23, 2020, and May 9, 2023.
Owners of affected Broncos will receive notifications by mail starting June 30, 2023. Owners may also contact Ford at 866-436-7332 or reach customer service by chat.
The Fix
Your dealer’s service department “will add a sliding clip latch stop to the driver and front passenger seat belts,” states NHTSA. There will be no charge to the customer.
