Ford continues to offer accessory solutions for Bronco owners, and one of the latest, and hardest to find, is the FITS (Ford Integrated Tether System). This modular storage setup allows for additional options if you’re not a fan or ambivalent of, the passenger grab handle. If you’ve ever been frustrated by the small Bronco cupholders or when you have multiple beverages between 2 people, this might be something you like. Also, with it being modular, you can change quickly between accessories and sometimes, you just can’t have enough Bronco branded stuff in your Bronco.
Although the package is advertised only for the 2025 model year, we tested the FITS package on our personal 2023 Bronco Badlands two-door, and it fit without issue, with an installation time of about 5 minutes. (mostly the time it took me to unroll our Bronco tool kit, admittedly my favorite and most used accessory)
What Is FITS?
The FITS system is a modular mounting device that replaces the passenger side grab handle with a base plate featuring a slotted design, meaning, on many Broncos you will lose your passenger grab handle, if you have one, that is. The grab handle has been phased out on some of the 2025 trims, but the FITS will work whether you have the grab handle or not. Personally, I did not have any issue with replacing the handle as I never could quite decide the right time and way to use it effectively for me.
This base plate has a slot that accommodates interchangeable accessories, such as trays and cup holders, designed to slide into place for easy use or removal. I imagine there will be additional, as well as after-market ideas for the FITS. Ford’s part number for the Bronco is S2DZ-7804567-AA, and it’s available from outlets like Ford OEM Parts Online. Other vehicles, like the Maverick also have a FITS so make sure you get the correct one. The price on most sites is between $114-$135.00. You can also order it as a package (also $135) on the build and price site if you’re ordering a new 2025 Bronco.
What’s Included in the Package
The FITS kit comes with:
A base plate that easily connects to the spot that the passenger grab handle is (or should be)
A large cup holder for some pretty big water bottles
A small tray for coins, maybe your key fob?
A larger tray for pens or to separate your favorite items from the mass of stuff that collects in a Bronco.
Each accessory is designed to slide into the base plate slot securely and can be swapped out depending on your needs, literally in seconds. Pull one out and place the other one in. What I haven’t figured out yet is a good place to store the pieces I’m not using, especially the giant cup holder.
How to Install the FITS System
Installation is beyond simple, requiring only a Torx 30 bit.
Remove the factory grab handle located on the passenger side of the dash.
Using your Torx 30 bit, unscrew the two mounting bolts that hold the grab handle in place. Lefty-loosey.
Align the FITS base plate with the factory mounting holes.
Secure the plate using the same two bolts you removed from the grab handle. Righty-tighty.
Once its tight, slide in your chosen accessory, cup holder or tray, and you’re done.
Compatibility Notes
While the FITS kit is marketed for the 2025 Bronco, and in fact, the site will tell you it’s not compatible with earlier Gen 6 Broncos, our installation on a 2023 Bronco Badlands (2-door) was successful. However, there are a few important considerations that we didn’t really consider before ordering it:
Space Intrusion: The larger cup holder does protrude into the passenger area. While not a deal-breaker, it’s something to consider if your passenger needs more legroom.
Two-Door Limitations: On two-door Broncos, where the front seat must slide forward to allow rear seat access, the installed accessories, particularly the large cup holder, interferes with seat movement. You have to remove the accessory piece before sliding the seat forward. It only takes seconds but if you frequently have back seat passengers, you’ll have to decide it it’s worth it, trying to remember to take it out each time. The baseplate doesn’t interfere with the seat movement, or you could always load backseat passengers on the driver side. Luckily, it’s usually just me and Brian and the pups in our 2 door and they access the back via the center console.
Is It Worth It?
If you’re someone who likes Bronco branded stuff or wants some additional storage or cup holders, the FITS system could be a solid add-on for you. It offers quick-change versatility, lets you keep essentials like phones, drinks, or tools at hand, and installs in minutes.
While the price of $135 seems a little expensive, the added organization and functionality could still make it a worthwhile upgrade, especially for those who are thirsty or have a really cool drink bottle that doesn’t fit the standard cup holders, like me.
We’ll continue to try out the various options and report back on our favorites or if we find out any additional concerns or watch outs. Have you seen this before, and what are your thoughts on the FITS? Is it something you’d like to have, or would you pass?
