The legendary NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally roars back into Baja this weekend, for five grueling days of desert racing. So far, I’ve covered privateers and early gen Broncos in previous articles but now let’s talk about the Ford Performance teams. Some of our good friends and the biggest Bronco advocates around are racing for Ford Performance this year, both piloting Broncos in what’s known as the Showroom Stock Late Model class. As with all races, classes are determined by specific rules. The Evolution Era, or modern race cars, have a huge number of classes ranging from high performance Trophy Trucks, RVs, rally cars, and stock vehicles, although they are not truly stock as safety requires roll cages, fuel cells, and other equipment.

Team 766: Champions Return

Leading the charge is Team 766, a well-recognized rig featuring the battle-hardened 2023 Ford Bronco that’s made a name for itself across multiple off-road circuits. With off-road racing legend Brad Lovell behind the wheel and his brother Roger Lovell co-driving and navigating, this Bronco is no stranger to the podium. It claimed victory in the Stock Mid-Size class at the 2023 Baja 1000, conquered the 2024 Vegas to Reno, and took top honors in its class at the 2025 King of the Hammers Every Man Challenge.

Backed by an all-star lineup of sponsors including Ford Performance, Amsoil, BFGoodrich Tires, Fox Shocks, and Method Race Wheels, the team combines elite performance with deep family roots, living up to the team’s name Lovell Racing. Brad's son Adam Lovell and Roger’s son Parker are part of the race team, underscoring the generational passion behind their off-road endeavors. Having already clinched a class win at NORRA in 2024, the Lovell brothers are hungry for a repeat.

Team 725: Engineering Meets Firemen

Joining them on the course and in the same class is Team 725, entering with a fresh 2025 Ford Bronco and a unique driver lineup that blends Ford engineering with professional off-road racing. At the helm is Ford engineer Seth Goslawski, paired with Fire Guys Racing’s Jason Hutter and Paul Blangsted. Fire Guy’s Racing is more than just a name, all the racers are firefighters, out saving lives and property when not racing. Jason and Paul are both EMTs as well.

We’ve had the opportunity to get to know these three racers over the last year, and they are not only top-notch drivers but represent the type of professionalism that is such a part of Ford Performance racing.

Tune in here to see the live coverage and you can also look up your favorite team with the live tracker. With two Broncos flying the Ford Performance flag in the rugged Showroom Stock Late Model class, you can expect a competitive battle through the Mexican desert. As the teams prepare to tackle everything from high-speed coastal runs to rocky mountain passes, one thing is certain: the spirit of Bronco is alive and well at the NORRA Mexican 1000.

Brian and I plan to be at the finish line at the extreme southern tip of Baja in San Jose del Cabo and will follow up with coverage and the vibe of all the Broncos finishing and celebrating, “the happiest race on earth”.
