Ford Confirms Price Hike on Bronco Sport Amid Tariffs on Mexican Imports

Ford Motor Company just officially announced a price increase of up to $2,000 on the Bronco Sport, made effective for vehicles built after May 2, 2025. That means Bronco Sports that hit the dealerships later in June will reflect this increased pricing. Ford is offering some promotional discounts though, some through early June and hinting discounting will continue through the July 4th weekend, to help to offset some of that price increase.

Made in Mexico

Although the Bronco is assembled in America, the Bronco Sport is assembled in Hermosillo, Mexico, at Ford’s Stamping and Assembly Plant, making the Sport subject to the 25% tariffs imposed by the U.S. government on vehicles imported from Mexico. Other vehicles assembled in Mexico include the Ford Mach-E and the Maverick.

More Expensive to Move

Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company has expressed concerns about the longevity of these tariffs, stating they are likely to remain in effect for at least the next three years. He emphasized the challenge of maintaining affordability for models like the Bronco Sport and stating that relocating production to the U.S. would further increase costs.

Mr. Farley has also been blunt in saying that if 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada stick, yet brands from Asia and Europe are not given the same tax, it would give "free rein to South Korean, Japanese and European companies that are bringing 1.5 million to 2 million vehicles into the U.S." annually, giving them "one of the biggest windfalls" ever and “blow a hole” in the U.S. auto industry.

Ford Plans for Balance

Although Ford has a plan to offset approximately $1 billion dollars of this cost and is striving to keep the Bronco Sport and other vehicles accessible to customers with deals like employee pricing, the company is estimating a $2.5 billion impact from the tariffs in 2025 alone.

Pricing currently stated on the Build and Price site as of May 10, 2025 have the Big Bend with standard features listed at $30,995. That’s a $1,000 increase since my article in January, where pricing for the Big Bend for just under $30,000. The Outer Banks is also showing a $1,300 increase to $36,495, compared to $35,195. Right now, the other trim prices remain unchanged.

If you’ve been considering trading in or adding another Sport to your stable, now may be the time to commit before current pricing discount offers expire.
