Broncos are equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The system measures the vehicle’s tire pressures, and it will alert you if one or more of your tires are reading low.
If you have deflated your tires for better traction or ride quality off road, you’ve seen the warning light and know it will turn off on its own once you inflate after the drive.
However, what if you're doing a five-tire rotation at home, or get a flat tire and swap for your full-size spare? Will the system recognize that you’ve replaced the tire and turn off the alert?
Resetting the Bronco TPMS
It’s a simple answer with an equally easy process –– yes, the Bronco’s TPMS will recognize the wheel replacement, and it relearn the new tire pressure without you having to intervene.
Once you’ve swapped out the flat tire for the spare, all you need to do is drive over 20 mph for up to two minutes, and the trouble light will turn off.
Still Having Issues?
Ford notes that aftermarket tires and wheels may cause malfunctions to the TPMS. If issues persist, have your dealer check your vehicle.
